A Soundtrack - Cassette 8 Tracking - 488 and 238.
I've talked on and off about this for a few years now. My band (FemBots) have been writing and recording music for a CBC short TV series called Farm Crime for about 5 years now. The third season is about to launch and to commemorate it we've put together a soundtrack album featuring some of our favo...

Sounds like tubular bells to me.

Re: Electro-Voice 641- got one? What do you think of it?
Is it a hi or low z model? Or switchable? That may determine how much use it gets. That said, I've rarely met as old eve mic that I didn't like for something. I had an earlier EV omni mic of a similar style (can't remember bteh model for the life of me) and liked it quite a bit as an overhead. It on...

Re: Latest Gear You've Un-Acquired....
I used a Millennia HV-3D/8 for the first time the other week. It's been in the racks forever, but I always shy'd away from it from just hearing hearsay on the internets, and just stuck with all the Neve, API, Great River, and Trident 80B for preamp options at this studio. I wanted to try this RCA B...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
After almost a decade of hunting I have finally found a Marxophone. More specifically a mandolin guitarophone but basically the same thing. It needs a bunch of work, the end block where the tuning pins sit has started to pull apart, it has some top and back cracks to fix and it needs new strings. It...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Just scored another RE15 as well as an RE10 for $200 a piece. Much more than the $40 I paid for my first RE15 but I'm still happy. My favorite mics.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Wow!!! :!: :!: :!: Really beautiful house! Congrats! New studio build in my future. I'm excited to be moving from a one car garage to a two car garage. Thanks! It's amazing what can happen when you move from the really expensive big city to a not so expensive smaller city 45 minutes away.

Recomend Me a Good Trem Pedal
This feels like a question for vvv but I'd love to hear opinions. I need a good, simple, not stupidly expensive trem pedal. I prefer to get it from the amp but my favorite gigging amp (a Garnet stencil amp) doesn't have it. My three trem equipped amps are all Canadian made takes on Fender designs - ...

Re: Acoustic Guitar Size in a Bass Heavy Mix
The missing equation here is whether the acoustic is acting as part of the rhythm section or if it's a featured instrument. How big and prominent does it need to be in the mix? If it's acting like a percussion instrument then you can pick a bright mic and roll off the lows until it fits the way it s...

You may be able to get a group rate through the union (if your a member) or your songwriting rights association (if you're a member). I did this back when I was running a commercial room.
