i'm really into shoegaze stuff and am trying to write and record stuff in that vein. i know that volumes can be (or already have been) written about MBV 'loveless.' i believe that technique was a TON of vocal tracks. but i'm also referencing bands like earlimart, jesus and mary chain, and black rebe...

my favorite atonal (at times) singer from one of my favorite bands is wayne coyne from the flaming lips. LOVE THOSE GUYS! such character to his voice. especially on the old material.

first some background.....i have an untreated room that definitely isn't going to be great sonically. after recording some vocals with an sm58 while sitting in front of my monitors singing along with the music, i realized that even though the sound level coming out of the monitors was of a moderate ...

i'm interested in this too. for recording a guitar amp, if you take the ball-end off the sm58 you can shove the mic a bit closer to the speaker of your cab, which could be a good thing, right?
