the PM1000's are nice and fairly easy if you have some electronics/diy skills. However, I agree with the others - it doesn't sound like this is your problem. if you have the C1000 plugged directly into the 2626 (using a XLR to XLR cable and nothing in between) then I suspect you have a bad cable or...

Oh!
You could also rack up two Yamaha PM1000 channel strips for under $500; it is an easy project. The PM1000's are all discrete, transformer balanced pre's with a pretty cool passive EQ on them, and they sound really huge on certain things. What's the story on this?: http://cgi.ebay.com/Yamaha-PM-1000...

And about my dull sound: I believe most of it, or at least a part of it is my untreated, but cluttered tiny room. Literally, the room is 6'x9'! Another factor is my lack of mixing ability. Another is is probably my laziness when it comes to mic placement. I could use better quality instruments, etc...

Okay, hello again! After a brief experiment, I still feel that I am not getting enough gain into the 'puter. I turned off the -20 pad and plugged my mic (c1000s) directly into input 1. For the input to peak at -20 in Nuendo, I had to bring the mic within about 4" - 6" from the soundhole of the guita...

Well, I thank you guys for the advice and such. I wasn't descriptive enough with my post, and for that I apologize. I am using an AKG c1000s for all of my recordings. In the future, near future I hope, I would like to get something like the AKG 214 or a Rode K2 or NTK. I haven't even scratched the s...

Preamp and interface dilema...
Hiya. I purchased an M-Audio Profire 2626 for several reasons. The one I have a question about is thus: I was hoping to do away with my Behringer T1953 and just use the interface as my preamp as well. Well, it hasn't worked out that way. It seems that I still need the preamp just to get enough gain....

In the Tacoma Wa area?
Hello and hi. I have been recording my own projects for several years now and would like to learn how to actually do it proper. My reason for this post is thus: I have never been truly satisfied with my recordings. The mixing part is a bit better, but the actual tonal qualities of my recordings lack...

I have to say that this is one of the most helpful threads I have read? I discovered TOMB just last night. Oh, I have meandered through the other home recording forums regularly for the past year or two, but I feel more at home here. For someone like me who only owns one mic (AKG c1000s), but is loo...
