I use a PC Nuendo DAW system and render my stereo mix using the combination Waves L2 and BBE Sonic Maximizer plugins in the Mastering Effects of Nuendo. We were only listening to track 1 I believe. Emily doesnt "crush the shit out of" anything. comfort woman is absolutely the jam of the week. 4 weeks running. i realize you all waited with baited breath for that one... any mixing with aim to sound the same... well... i think the CD sounds like overp...

! emily lazar flattened the pizz out of meshells new record 'comfort woman.' i dunno whose idea it was to make loud LOUD but it wasnt a good one. every damn kick hit on track 3 is completely flattened: like 'click-umph, click-umph.'....then at the waay quiet outro things start to sound great.... no ...

One--The roundness of the shells. If the drums are out of round, it will be nearly impossible to tune them evenly. Now that I'm recording to tape, I'm really seeing the need for a good noise gate, or even better a stereo noise gate, to deal with issues like the high noise floor of some old (but great) synths. Anyone got any thoughts? i had to to join the board just so i could chime it about the Valley Dynamite....
