1967, sorry, my bad for the typo. I don't care what your book says. I owned [and played through] a 1967 Marshall Lead 100 MOSFET head and MATCHING half stack loaded with 4x10's for 5 years. The Lead 100 you're speaking of that's made in the 80's is the model 3210. Different animal, amigo. And MOSFE...
To be honest, I believe you can get most of the same tones pretty cheap using a Lead 100 MOSFET head. Not the 80's red model, but the early 60's Lead 100 from Marshall. The 1964 Lead 100 has a great, raucousy, clean punk sound. .
Early '60s Lead 100 MOSFET? Huh? The MOSFET transistor...

Guitar sound is so objective. I've owned over 30 amps over the years and the Fender Twin would be one of my last choices ( better than a Peavey or Crate, though) They just don't sound good to my ears no matter what I try. A Super or Deluxe Reverb is a far better choice if you want a Fender. My sugge...

M-Tron problem - HELP!
I had M-Tron successfully installed and working correctly with my iMac G5 OSX 10.3 and Pro Tools LE 6.9. I upgraded to OSX 10.4.3 and Pro Tools 7.0. Now when I try to use the M-Tron plug-in I receive the following message: "Error scanning M-tron bank folder" I tried to re-install the RTAS, VST, & St...

I've found that lower wattage amps cranked tend to sound bigger than high watt amps cranked. Ted Nugent used a Fender Deluxe on those early records and the first Montrose record was a small Tweed Gibson. Small amps, big sound. I usually use a Trainwreck Airbrake attenuator on most amps over 30 watts...

A heavier bridge and upgraded Pickups could help but if it's a plywood body or some crappy wood you're SOL. My opinion on getting a great bass tone: Use a pick! I know most bass players hate that but it almost always sounds better. BTW I've actually been pretty happy with my MIM Jazz bass. Even tone...

A similar thing happened to me. they sent me the mic and one cap but didn't even list the B7 cap as backordered or anything. I had to call them to find out what was going on. The B7 took about a month to show. they seemed pretty up front whenever I called them. They told me it could be backordered s...

Interesting responses. I have several tech books on tube amps, as I work on them occasionally, and they all say it's very bad for your transformers and power tubes to mismatch the impedence at all. It's probably OK short term but it will probably reduce the life of your amp. You can always contact A...
