grounding issue?

I am trying to do some vocals right now, but can't because there is a serious sizzle buzz going on right now. It is an intermittent problem I have had. Some times I have to wait for an hour or two for it to go away. WTF? the xlr cable isn't too close to power supplies or anything like that. Is this ...

mixing in pro tools for film

Hello. I am trying to figure out how I can be mixing the audio (actors talking, sound effects, music) for a film and watching the video at the same time. I am not familiar with pro tools, but that is what i am using. Any pointers?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm soothed.

Chris Harris- I though the Beatles remastered "Come Together" sounded great.

How much does a mastering job cost for 1 song vs. 1 album with 10 songs roughly? Or is there a rough estimate at all?

Sheesh I realize now how smashed everything is

Recording has been kind of my hobby for a number of years now. Writing music is what I have primarily been into for my whole life. Basically I am working on my first album right now and I am pretty much done recording and mixing the first song. Before sending it to ITunes from Garageband I turned th...

Fun questions to discuss because I know some people that really don't like solos- myself partially included. The first solo I ever loved was the Stairway to Heaven solo. It was such a build up and then emotional release. I still love that solo 13 years later and turn it up when it is on the radio ev...

About the writing process: Did you just keep adding layer upon layer without knowing where you wanted to go with it or did you know before hand?

It sounds good and is pretty mind blowing.

Yeah, I would agree with your mix being too heavy handed on the lows- especially on the bass guitar. The Kick:Bass Guitar on the reference was bigger I think. Try matching the relative kick thump to the amount of bass guitar low end more. The cymbals sound like they may be taking up more audio spect...

Isn't the deposit so in case the client isn't happy and decides they don't like the result for whatever reason? Chris's scenario question: I would let whoever was recording me keep the deposit and the master. Doesn't seem fair to waste somebody's time, therefore the deposit amount should reflect the...

I'm going in with a microscope here but a good question to reflect on might be "has there ever been a time that an artist suggested something and I trusted them enough and thought it was worth trying". And why was that? Was it because of there good/bad personality or apparent talent/lack thereof, et...

Just busted out the 'ol Portastudio

My Tascam Portastudio 414 has been out of commission for a long time due to a bad ac adapter. Anyway I bought a new ac adapter and I am back up and rolling with it. Recorded a live band last night with drums guitars, bass shakers and crowd vocals in a medium sized room and it came out sounding great...

Excellent. Thanks for the suggestion. I just looked up some reviews and that sounds like a good entry level audiophile player which seems appropriate for my level of interest. Do you own the Pro-Ject debut III? Did you get the black color? All of the other colors cost an extra 100+ dollars- geeze!

Recommend good turntable for listening

Does anybody here listen to vinyl on a turntable? I have a Sony PSJ11 but the needle broke and I am considering just buying a better player now. Any recommendations for one that is relatively good for a low price. Preferably less than 200 dollars?
