Ahh. Sorry. You had typed the word delay twice and it never occurred to me that it might be a typo.

Cheers,

Sun, I have a paper on my publications page that you might find helpful once you get past this. "How to find out how much Isolation you need.pdf" There is another great document by NRC-CNRC there as well; ir761 Feel free to download any/all information you need. Good luck with your 'leetle freends'!...

... it's more likely just a product of the small space and the close walls that are reflecting the energy around (and yes i do have lots of treatment) ... space is a wonderful diffuser... +1 Indeed. - ideally you need a about 30 sq/m or 323 sq/ft with a ceiling height of at least 11 ft. or 335 cm. ...

I don't see any information about delays. The article is talking about reflections and the sound of certain surfaces. The point is that THERE IS NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE. I see this time and time again all over the forums that folks are splitting hairs over these things. There is hardly ANY difference be...

Haha, yeah Jeremy was a character.

I met my wife in Jakarta about 6 years ago.. couldn't stay away, so I came back and married her. And here I stay. For good. I love it here. -Perpetual paradise.
We get to go to Bali every summer and lay on the beach. :)
Thank you.

Yes, indeed. Can you run REW? if so, please get a measure of your room, one speaker at a time at the listening position. Full sweep 20Hz to 20kHz. No smoothing. - Sorry, I can't read Fussmeasure as I don't us a Mac (AutoDesk Building Suite does not like the Mac) ;) Post the mdat file. I'll have a lo...

Do not use EQ to compensate for a poorly treated room.. However, you CAN use EQ to 'fix' a Steady-State issue such as Flush mounting.

Any EQ used to correct an issue at one point in the room will result in producing other issues everywhere else in the room. 8)

I would advise caution with the 'inside-out' approach. If you want a certain amount of isolation there is ONLY one way to get the same STL spec... and that is with the same mass AND AIR SPACE. Building walls 'inside-out' in the manner of John Sayers places the gypsum board on the air gap side of the...

That is great news.. definitely doable there! I would recommend a 'site noise survey' (you can do this yourself with an SPL meter). And get an average, general reading of the noise level outside vs. the same type reading inside the current building, as-is. You need to identify exactly how much isola...

Re: Metal Buildings and Pole Buildings - Opinions?

It looks like I am going to be starting totally from scratch. Just got a quote on a metal building and it's made from 29GA steel which sounds a bit thin IMO. That is definitely the way to go if you have the budget. What exactly are your requirements for this studio? I was also thinking about using ...

Re: alternatives to dry wall? using wood?

You are talking about building staggered stud construction.. this is for ISOLATION. Isolation requires mass. It doesn't really matter what you use for this mass, but drywall or gypsum board is VERY good at 'mass' and it is cheap. That's why we use it. Your FINISH, however can be cedar or whatever yo...

Slau, Control room windows are part of the studio design and are built 'on-site' custom. The glass is either tempered or laminate, two different thicknesses, and start at about 3/8" thick & up. The thickness is determined by the isolation requirements. What is your Isolation requirement? in decibels...

Doug, What is your budget? - That will probably determine what you can do... Isolation clips may be the way to go for decoupling... without which, it is doubtful that you will obtain better than about STC48 by adding several layer of gypsum board directly to the existing walls & ceiling... and you w...
