I'm intrigued by all the possibilities NOT show in the video. What'll it do to feedback? Or a crash cymbal?

Just wondering, what part about Live seems less than perfect for mixing?
In version 5, I get plug-in delay on the sends.

Software is where you really end up saving a fortune. When I worked at Sam Ash Music, I got Ableton Live, Cubase SX, Digital Performer, TRacks, and Sampletank for free. And Waves gave me what was supposed to me a renewable 1 year license for Diamond bundle that still hasn't timed out. If you're a fa...

Love that app. I'm not sure about mixing with it, but I start 80% of my ideas in Live. I always feel like I'm dealing with musical elements in a really intuitive way, whether its tweaking out pre-recorded loops, tracking audio or midi, or creating ideas and arrangements on the fly. It feels more lik...

I've used one and i never felt like it was imparting a good sort of "character" in most applications. I never liked the sounds I got out of it when I gained it up. The only reason I still have mine around is the digital IO. Useful for adding two pres to the SPDIF inputs on my 828.

whatever that one was with the "music box" song, back in the 80s... they play it on ice cream trucks now. back in roller-rink days.
Wasn't that The Art of Noise? And what about "Oh Yeah" by Yello?

Sounds like you lost one side on the inputs to me. Those onboard cards probably represent about $15 in replacement cost. Here's something you might want to look at as a low-cost alternative:

Last I checked, they're about $100us.

Can you describe your signal chain ahead of the computer? And I'm not 100% clear on what your input configuration is. Does "surround capable" apply to your inputs? Lastly, the "pins" you described, are these just the female mini-plug jacks on the box?

It's either big orchestral soundscapes, or just a raided record collection (blame Tarantino + the Big Chill). The Dick Dale cover of "Miserlou" that was featured in Pulp Fiction was probably a bigger hit in the 90's than it ever was in its original release. And then there's that instrumental from K...

Oh yeah, it's time to jump from ProTools. FWIW, I really love Ableton Live...... and I use it as a replacement for my Radar setup which was a replacement for my tape machine. No regrets at all. Very underrated as a DAW. Simple, straightforward and kool in a Beck's Beer sort of way. +1 for Live. But...

I haven't used Express in a while, but I don't think it has plug-in delay compensation across its Aux channels.

Business as Usual was a good album, song wise and sonically as well. "No Sign of Yesterday" is a great song, with some nice delayed lead guitar parts. I found myself singing the second verse from "Land Down Under" a few days ago. These guys were pretty talented. True, true. But a/b'ing the two, Car...

This book, besides being pretty good, is written by their engineer? Producer? Whatever he was, he has a lot of info about his methods recording their albums blended into the text of the book. http://www.amazon.com/Musicians-Guide-Home-Recording/dp/0671657542 I feel that "It's a Mistake" is one of t...
