Re: ring modulator effect on my ears... WHAT??
And a more dire warning to take it seriously: A friend had the odd experience that she started to relate to the world like a quarter-step out of tune. Where she'd been able to sing in tune, she started being way out (I forget if it was flat or sharp, but definitely out). She couldn't tell that anyth...

Re: ring modulator effect on my ears... WHAT??
A couple of inexpensive, holistic things that can help:
- A hot compress over the ear/jaw/eustacian tube.
- A big stack of pillows, so you don't lie fully prone, and the goop doesn't flow downhill into your ear.

Re: ring modulator effect on my ears... WHAT??
Fluid in the inner ear "singing along"? I swam a lot as a kid, and was always on the verge of an ear infection because my ears were full of pool water. Sometimes it would make really strange, springy sounds - I could stomp my foot, or tap on the right spot of my jaw, and my ear would go "boing." It ...

Re: That white “pegboard” sound paneling?
So who is in the foreground of said photos? What era? Sinatra & Joe Meek? Probably the Armstrong-type tiles linked above. Steely Dan? Possibly some RPG product. More recent? GIK make panels with a random "dot-dash" pattern. There's also the possibility that it's just pegboard, or is some sort of cus...

Re: 4 Pin 'Aphenol' to 3 Pin 'XLR' Adapter (L3MN)
The official answer from Shure appears to be "make a pigtail," and "doublecheck the polarity, because the mic might be wired wrong."
The article also refers to Tom Ellis and Associates as a source of readymade pigtails, but they appear to be a healthcare consulting company...

Re: Should I rent out my mics? What to charge?
If you're comfortable with the situation, then it might be a way to make some money with gear that would otherwise be sitting. Even if you have insurance on the gear for your own use, it's probably not covered if it's rented out. For pricing, look at what the competition is charging. There are a num...

Re: Do Plug-ins have to be "blessed" as "Apple Silicon Native"? to run properly on M1xxx?
Apple actually have decent developer documentation regarding the move to Apple silicon. This page has a section specifically addressing plugins: Universal plug-ins are essential if your app loads those plug-ins directly into its process space. Code running in the same process must support the same a...

Re: Do Plug-ins have to be "blessed" as "Apple Silicon Native"? to run properly on M1xxx?
For simple applications, it should be a matter of throwing a switch in Xcode and rebuilding...M1 native, X86 native, or both in one package. But PT might be anything but simple. Depending on how their dedicated cards work, they may have some x86 specifics baked in that will be hard to untangle. And ...

"Pins" for C-stands?
Does anyone have a good recipe for putting mics on c-stands? Marvel have completely screwed up the ability for google for "Avenger brass pin," and B&H/Manfrotto bith seem to give me endless lists of adapters to scroll through. I've been using the tube out of a little desktop stand, but now I want to...

Re: Is there a plugin that can swap L/R channels?
A few moments hunting brings me to: https://www.raisingjakestudios.com/utilitiy%20and%20fx.html#Stereo:32Swapper That's actually a pretty useful feature in general, and I don't know why we don't see it more often. I've been known to patch an input of my Coleman switcher with the L/R swapped, so it's...

Re: A reverb sound query
It's probably a "ducking delay." It gates the delay until it detects the end of a series of input, then ungates it so the last little bit repeats.
The "Madonna Effect."
You can do similar by only turning the send up during the last word.

It's not wireless, but a little USB interface probably does exactly what you're looking for.
