Thats a toughie - those units are pretty rugged - its essentially a system on a chip with support chips given what was already said here - the only thing i can add is - take a compressed air electronics cleaner can to the circuit board and especially the switches on the panel My guess would be dirt ...

In addition to selecting a sampler you should also get the right samples
google "Linn Drum Samples"

there are many free versions available
in addition - check for for
EMU SP1200
ROLAND TR 808

A few things to keep in mind (as far electronic keyboards) 1) Samples vs physical modelling those that are sampled based tend to really screw the pooch as far as micro-tonality is concerned. That is they process the existing sample to produce different notes and thus introduce different harmonics. T...

Not sure what keyboards are being played but almost all decent keyboards have that feature. Although the ease of access of the feature varies greatly. Here is a quote from the Korg micro-arranger PAGE 5 - TUNING This page lets you program the alternative scale for the selected tracks (see ?Scale Mod...

I agree with Snarl This is some kind of joke right - I am a synth/sample guy myself - but saying this is cool just because its ipads is ridiculous. What were the ipads doing that cheaper instruments couldn't (apart from checking facebook - lol :) ) Not saying the ipad use cant be innovative - but th...

Probably to reduce the load on the system. Search uses a lot of processor and disk. So they enforce a wait to keep a lid on the maximum number of searches per second from the whole board.
Remember its not just you searching...

I think I see the problem with your logic AFAIK: No-one ever starts out making music with crap, achieves some degree of success AND KEEPS ON MAKING MUSIC WITH CRAP. Everyone who achieves some degree of success UPGRADES equipment AND PERSONNEL. U know the stories - the first record is done on a Macki...

i would hesitate about anything free now almost all "free" downloads have been hacked with a virus or some sort of invasive program (you are lucky if its just ads) if not the actual executable then the installer tries to all kinds of crap to your system As for under $100 US sequencers I would recomm...

I was listening to these two mp3's today on JBL monitors, and while the bass is massive, it's all higher-frequency than you might think. Switching the sub in and out, the bass was only slightly more massive with the sub engaged. Where's the beef of the bass here, around 60 hz? 50 hz? I'm not sure w...
