Do you lease or own your studio?
I'm considering sinking some money in to creating a proper control room and an acoustically designed live room, but my only caveat is that I don't own the space and the landlord can't/won't sell it. She did offer me a multi-year lease and is a nice, reasonable person. That leads me to wonder what yo...

Best all-rounder bass cab for recording?
I'm looking to get a bass cab for the studio to have available for clients. Is there any certain model you guys have found to be exceptionally good for recording? I'm imagining a single 15" would be preferable to a 4x10, but not sure...

DAW Controller?
Do you any of you use a DAW controller for mixing/automation? I generally prefer mixing in the box, but doing it via mouse is too slow. I use an APC40 when I mix in Ableton, but it doesn't seem to work as well in Pro Tools. Just wondering what you guys use. I'm considering getting an Artist Mix but ...

Here is my playground. Stop by if you're ever in RI  I might get in touch about doing that! I've got family in Rhode Island (Coventry). I go up every year for Christmas but I'll be making a trip through this summer. Your place looks beautiful! Do it up, man. We're having some fun in here. I us...

Love it! TWO complete drum kits! What are the differences and finer points of each? Rope and string lights... Everyone's got them nowadays... I wanted to hang some Chinese lanterns, but was shot down by the partnership triumvirate. Another thing for the list when I get my own own place.. GJ Look cl...

Interesting to hear how differently you all approach this. The intent of the reamping in this instance was to get a good DI signal to be reamped and recorded at a different location through better gear. Before I was going: Guitar > Pedals > ISA DI > Pro Tools Trying to get a perfect take, perhaps no...

Guitar reamping: effects on the way in or on the way out?
New to reamping here. Do you guys normally record guitar DI with the effects on the way in or manually add the effects when you send the signal back out to the amp? I've tried to record a guitar performance w/ effects going direct into an ISA ONE with intention that the signal would be reamped later...

The pickups we've tried so far are Fishman (not sure the model), which was horrible, and Headway's "The Band" pickup, which is not as bad, but still tricky. I hadn't thought of filling the sound holes. The craziest part, to me, is that we actually tried having her sit behind and away from the amp an...

Hey guys, a band I recorded last fall just released their debut LP. It's probably the best engineering work I've done yet. It's a beautiful mixture of folk and doom. I'd be interested to hear your opinions on the recording quality!
