Hi,

For it's worth, I recommend purchasing a new MRL tape. JRF is a good place to go...$225 for what you need.

Take care,
Tom

FWIW,

I bought the EV mic. The mic arrived quickly and without any hassles and is a very cool addition to my mic closet.

But then it was moved, right? Time to learn how to calibrate the deck. Agreed. It should be pretty straightforward too. Do you have an MRL tape? I didn't see anything in your thread about setting the playback levels of the tape machine with an MRL tape. I would just echo what everyone else stated, ...

Bob Katz book is a great reference to have on hand too. Just like Phillip Giddings Audio Designs Setup & Installations book. Jettison - I understand. I do think they add value to the gear and are an improvement for sure. I just didn't personally feel they were the right route for me. I am currently ...

I am curious what BLA says too on this. When I used MOTU converters I was very interested in their conversion and clock upgrade options. But I could never justify spending the money on the converters. At the time I had a 24i/o and was looking at over $1k of upgrades from BLA. I ended up just selling...

FS: Vintage Harmony H430 Tube Amp

Hello All, I am selling my somewhat rare Harmony H430 guitar amp. It is a very nice sounding all tube 1960's amp that is in very good cosmetic shape! I just had it in for a complete cleaning, cap job, and fix an issue with it; so it is ready to rock. Here are some quick specs: Approx. 25-35 watts? 2...

FS: UNOPENED Ampex 456 1/2" Tape

Hello, I have two 10.5" reels of Ampex 456 1/2" tape which I don't need. Both are unopened and come with original box. The box code is 89162. I'm not exactly sure what to ask for these, although I know what similar ones are selling for on fleebay. I would rather sell these here than go that route. I...

A dust mask is extremely helpful and simple. A gear based corrugation device is actually much easier to build than many people make it seem.

Hi Tony, Thanks for your insight on the ATR tape. Apparently, I did look over the obvious! US Recording Media offers tape on 7" reels, plastic or metal, or as a pancake. So, I guess it DOES pay to fully read... Have you used ATR 2"? I am set up for GP9 currently. But I need to start thinking...

Loading 1/4" Tape from Pancakes

Hello, I am finally in need of ordering new 1/4" tape. Since I have a bunch of 10.5" flanges, I can just get a couple pancakes and load them up, no problem. My problem however is I would also like to load up some 7" & 5" flanges for my reel to reels I use with my stereo. Is there a way to do this co...

Making Audio Transformers

Hi, Has anyone here made an audio transformer? I make guitar and bass pickups so I am familar with winding various types of coils. I also deal quite a bit with industrial 3 phase transformers in addition to audio transformers. Reason I ask is I just thought it would be a fun project. I'm building a ...

Really would need to add a transformer for protection. Probably some new caps and tubes (maybe)...all in all not much money. I bet this amp sounds great. I can't part with my Varsity Deluxe because it just sounds fantastic. Great clean tone and excellent saturated tones...this amp is probably simila...

Getting a good amount of interest but no takers yet. I thought I'd bump this. I have it on CL and probably will sell locally if no takers here.
