Oh yeah!
Another thing that's worked for a dual mic thing. Give em a dynamic for vox and a condensor for the guitar. You get a little less guitar in the vocal, and possibly some pleasant bleed into the guitar.
These singwriters are accustomed to eating a 58. Probably make em feel right at home.

Re: mic'ing singer/songwriters: vox and guitar w/o phase pro
yeah...they sure don't like to track seperate do they? And most can't really follow a click either...or sing without playing...or play without singing. I've been trying the 1 mic to capture both thing. Works ok. It's better with a gtr di to blend with. Then maybe double the vox? Not a perfect soluti...

Re: What's your favorite brand of blank CD's?
I was going through cd-r hell just last night. Running around town trying to find something a little better than bulk whatever brand. I had our cd manufacturer call and say that the media we used might be suspect...too many errors. I go out and end up with some Sonys, just for something different th...

Those are sweet. My friend has had a couple. gr-500? It's a guitar synth. You need a special guitar though. Analog synth, a couple oscillators maybe. The guitar has a feedback plate on it. Kinda like an ebow, but for all the strings I think. Takes an funky cord like a computer cable or som'n. There'...

Re: i hate when people say if we had pro-tools
A punch in could be cool if it's all stylized. Just get over the fact that it won't sound the same and make it sound way different. Cross fade back into the regular drum track. Magic! ...or cut the fill completely. Have the drums come back on the one...or two. ...or cut in a straight loop instead, b...

Re: cease and desist
Seems like capitalization in "HiM" would be a factor, huh? As far as trademark and stuff? There's a band that used to play around here called "Down". A few years later some heavy rock dudes wanted to use the name. Legend speaks of a payday for local band from major label heavy rock dudes. Down becom...

Re: Mics should be like guitar pedals...
I dunno. Perhaps mics are significantly more tedious to manufacture than a circuit board in a metal box. Just a guess. I s'pose your right. I was just thinking that there are all these cheap mics trying to sound like expensive mics. What if they just tried to sound like the coolest cheap mic they c...

Mics should be like guitar pedals...
Mics should be like guitar pedals... Cheap and plentiful in a miriad of flavors. Wouldn't it be cool if you could get a mic for $25-50 that could do one or two things really well? Obviously, they wouldn't replace higher quality mics, they'd be more for effect, but at the mic. I dunno som'n like high...

Re: Behringer ECM8000 - beating a dead mule?
Buy one. They're super useful. I've used them for room stuff lots. kinda noisey, but fine on rock drums. I even used it as a single overhead for a brush jazz kit thing and it sounded great. Who needs resale value on a $40 mic? At least you'll know what you like and don't like about omni mics, and ca...

Re: MAC Users: Lower End options and how they work
Well, the Project card takes the audio in from an 882 interface and shoots it directly out to a dedicated SCSI drive. The bus speed never seemed to be a problem. With a host based system it may be a bigger deal. I'm jumping up to a Digi001 so I wanted something stable that could run a bunch of plug ...

Re: Bounce to disk Error Message: Help!
I've had problems bouncing to disc before. Earlier PT version though. Anyway I was trying to bounce down to an interleaved file rather than seperate L and R tracks. I figured out that I had to interleave the files after bouncing down to 2 tracks. Don't know if it'll help, but it sure helped me.

Re: MAC Users: Lower End options and how they work
I'm upgrading from my 7500/G3/400mhz to a G4. It was just time. But the system was super awesome. I just need cheaper hard drives (not scsi) and more tracks. If you can find something that uses card based processing, you can use the slowest power macs out there. I'm upgrading from the Pro tools Proj...

Careful when you buy your RAM and make sure you keep the receipt. Once or if you already have OSX Jaguar in there...it will refuse to run with some RAM. I had to take out a 500 MB stick to get it to run right Word from the guy at the Apple store is that Panther is also picky. I don't know much abou...
