I think the deal is that those 80 minute disks will hold 80 minutes of music and 700 MegaBytes of data. The reason is that data disks contain extra information for error detection/correction. Audio CDs have some error detection/correction, but not as much as data CDs.

Hi. I admit, at first I didn't understand what you were saying, but now I do see where you're getting your numbers from and how your method works....but it is wrong. Well, as I said before, we aren't the only pro audio company that uses this method, there are several others, and Digidesign is an ex...

Ned is right (I am an EE). I've heard lots of good things about Black Lion, so I'm sure they're doing a lot of things right, but this way of of spec-ing is just plain wrong.

I recently (3 months ago) opened up some old sessions from around the time period of when I owned the 8:28 and they sounded terrible. If these sessions were from 8 years ago, how much can you attribute the difference to the sound card? Was your other gear of the same quality then? How about your re...

Actually, there is an XP driver available and it works quite well. After the company went out of business, some guy wrote an XP driver (and I think he got some help from a former employee of gadgetlabs). There are still a lot of people out there using them, even though the company went out of busine...

One of the more blatant is The Lips' 'Fight Test' and Cat Stevens' 'Father & Son'. It's too bad, because it is a really beautiful song and that doesn't stop it from being a beautiful song - but to get paid for it isn't right. Doesn't help that Wayne Coyne looks just like him, too. Actually, Cat Ste...

One I don't look forward to is in "The Waiting" by Tom Petty. To me, the bridge kind of sucks the energy out of the song until the guitar solo kicks in. But I could be wrong. That reminds me of a bridge that bugs me- "American Girl" by Tom Petty. It definitely sounds like a case where they thought ...
