If you overdrive the reverb drive tube then you risk damaging the coils in the reverb tanks. Beware.

That website is spammy. Worse than spammy. I got a popup ad. They can be downright malicious - they can download a virus if you click anything on them (it happened to me elsewhere one too many times). Since I no longer trust popup windows, I closed the browser without reading anything on that page....

I used to own an SR-416 (the early version of the SRC w/o a pad switch). Nice sounding preamps and musical EQ, FAR better than a Mackie. Mostly for live work although I did record some pretty good sounding shows right off the subgroups. 16 channels wasn't enough so I moved up to a 32ch A&H GL-2200.

Two big differences are the converters and the algorithms. The cheaper units may also contain the same processors but some functions are disabled thus they are crippled versions of their big brothers. The wrong power amp will cause tone loss before a speaker cable will, esp if the speaker has a very reactive load as part of its crossover network. I have witnessed this very thing, had a power amp with ample power fail to push a speaker then changed to a different power amp and it worked fine.
