as with all instruments, there are many "colors". different hoops, head/no head, brass, nickel, other jingles.... best thing I could offer is go to a store and pick up a couple and buy at least 2 different flavors. I have a cheap plastic (doubel row) and a wooden-hooped single row. different sounds...

anyone replace 12ax7a tubes in Art MPA digital (gold)?
I searched but didn't see any specific cases of anyone replacing tubes in an Art Digital MPA (the gold face 2U mic preamp). Has anyone done this and would you please share which specific tubes you tried, liked, disliked? I have the stock chinese (labels say 12ax7a and china only) and not really happ...

I have a few short On Stage booms that I absolutely love. The ones with the small tripod-shaped weighted bottoms. actually I have both the Onstage and the Musician's Fiend brand and the Onstage, while still cheap caca, are magnitudes better than the MF brand. But the MF brand were extremely cheap s...

eBay has suddenly gone millitant on postings with multiple brand names. I had one pulled the other week becasue I used "xxxxx Like yyyyy" in the title, and even though EVERYONE does this apparently its not allowed so they totally DELETE it (won't even let you edit it and repost it). But at least the...

<<In response to which 60's vibe, well, I should say more Ringo than Ginger Baker, for example. >> Hmm... "The End" Ringo and "Ticket to Ride" Ringo had kinda different sounds. TTR was more of that "open" Remo Ambassador (single-ply coated head) sound, where as I hear "The End" and "Come Together" a...

I have some of the short version. About 10% arrived with some sort of damage, but MF is good about replacing (and they are so cheap that they don't require sending them back--more than the freight). They are OK if you set them in the studio and rarely move them (like the ones on my drums) but would ...

maybe need to check what the line levels you are using? The digi 001 has different levels for pair 1-2 (+4dB) vs 3 to 8 (-10dB). What is the spec of the outboard equipment you are using? digi specs are here:

Re: when guitarist cant play to metronome for scratch track
so when the drummer gave clicks on the claveys he could feel the rhythm. and he nailed it. may have also been a visual thing for the guitar player--assuming they could see each other--maybe he's more comfortable with "conducting" then the click. I know I've played live gigs before where I had to lo...
