Re: Question:Recording to internal drive on powerbook, skipp
I've recorded for over an hour to the internal drive on a powerbook, many many times, and not once have I had the problem that you describe. Though I would recommend using an external drive, the internal drive seems to work just dandy for me. Are you sure it's a "hard-drive skipping" problem? Are yo...

Re: ibook or powerbook? does it really matter?
well... A couple things that are better about Powerbook: 1. when you hook it up to an external monitor, you can have two separate displays, or you can use mirror mode. With the ibook, you can only use mirror mode. This sorta sucks if you're doing DAW stuff, because it's nice to have two displays. I'...

shure pg52 sounds really bad, unless you want your kick drum to sound like a cardboard box.

It would sound like complete shit, but so does a real mackie.

Re: Equipment you HATE but everyone else seems to LOVE
HELL YEAH! 824's blow, in my opinion. They have the most over-hyped bass ever, and nothing I ever mix on them translates well.rnv123 wrote:Mackie HR824's. Weird is the only adjective that comes to mind. I never been able to get comfortable with them in any environment...

Re: Equipment you HATE but everyone else seems to LOVE
yeah dudes...P90's are terrific. I really don't understand how anyone can not dig the AKG 414. That thing is the most plain-jane, all purpose great sounding mic you can get IMO. It won't blow you away, but it works on so much stuff. Things I HATE: Rode NT1-A. Electronic Musician named it the best la...

Re: Achieving "The Cure" -like bass sounds
yes. use an amp. A guitar amp can work pretty well (it's worked alright for me in a pinch). Direct is bad news unless you're just looking to just bring the rumble. Well, I suppose you could blend an amped tone with a direct one. VERY little compression. Though compression will even it all out, your ...

Re: BLUE sure has lots of balls
That snowball actually looks pretty rad.
I don't care if it sounds like shit. It would be pretty awesome to have that sort of portability. I'm sick of lugging my 828 and a microphone around for my live sampling stuff.
I can't believe that no one thought of doing this before.

all the cool stuff goes up for sale when I'm broke.
Hopefully (but not for your sake), this stuff's still around in a week.

Re: Supercollider
dude! Great sounding stuff. Way to bring the supercollider "A" game. Glad to see that other tapeoppers are doing this stuff. I think we all sometimes have a tendency to go overboard worrying about tape machines and outboard gear and waves plugins, etc., etc. It's nice to hear examples of people doin...

Re: Supercollider
I believe the gz file is an archive of some sort. When you run it, it unpacks the whole thing, and you'll get a folder called "SuperCollider_f." Inside that, you'll find the application. I must warn you, though. The learning curve for supercollider is somewhat steep if you're not familiar with progr...
