Did anyone else on first glance think that this thread was about "Time Travel and Recording Budgets"?

Sad. Never met him in person, but had a few pleasant email exchanges with him when choosing speakers. By all accounts, this was his reputation. Great speakers too. This is a loss to the guitar world that will sadly go largely unnoticed.

Right now, my only mic preamps are those on my 11 year old Mackie 1202VLZPro. Now you've picked yourselves up off the floor from laughing, I have a problem. Don't be bullied by recording forum snobs - Mackie's VLZ-Pro preamps are pretty damn good in my opinion! They lack in detail and have a darkis...

...and don't forget the "switch" that "switches" between the pickups!

If any of them have three heads, I can see it being useful as an outboard effect (sending a track onto tape then back into the mix. Can help make digital stuff or synths sound more "real".
