You might consider just getting your woofers re coned.

It's cheaper and your speakers as a whole will retain it's original sound.

Nail polish remover should be 100% acetone.

Check your product label. If it's not, then get some that is.

What kind of head is it? Coated or non coated?

I have some old Evans heads I can test.

I have an Ibanez 202 and love it.

I got it off of Evil Bay over a year ago, for right at $200 bucks.
