advice needed: swap out mackie onyx board for apogee duet?

here's my situation: i am a bedroom musician. i'm not in a band, i'm not going to be gigging out anywhere. in the years i've been recording i've never had to record more than 2 sources at once, it's only me playing. i've been happy with the mackie onyx 1220 w/ firewire for the last few years. it was...

this is a hard one for a diehard zep fan. i choose physical graffiti.mainly due to the sheer volume of great songs. i can't get enough of 'in the light,' '10 years gone', 'the rover,' or 'kashmir' especially. but presence has my fav zep song (achilles last stand) and HoTH has my close second fav (no...

interesting you say that. i had the exact same experience when listening to the jamerson tracks. the tone struck me as not that great soloed. but geez, when you put it with the rest of the mix it is absolutely freakin perfect. definitely one of my favorite bass tones of all time! :D

i've been using tracktion2 and an onyx 1220 mixer for over a year now. i came from a pro tools le/mbox world previously. i find tracktion incredibly intuitive, easy to use, and seems to not tax the cpu much. I LOVE IT! i don't use midi so i can't comment on that. but i just love pretty much everythi...

i just downloaded this a few hours ago (paid $8) and am listening to it for the first time now. i think it sounds great so far though the first song put me off a bit. while thom yorke gets most of the press about this band i really love the bassist and drummer.

great suggestion on a low watt amp! i used to use pods. i owned 2 guitar pods and a bass pod. i live in a condo complex so a cranked amp just won't do. sold the pods and bought a zxex 1/2 watt tube amp. check out zvex.com. great amp sound at low volumes. and since you are playing reggae you aren't g...
