Re: Tascam 388 effects straight to tape tracks
Use the access points, send and receive. Send goes in the input of your effect, receive from the output. NO Y cables! :alien: That will work for my separate tracks! Another question. I’ll have to try this for myself. But say I have 5 dry drum tracks (1-5) and I want to mix them down to 2 tracks (7-...

Re: Tascam 388 effects straight to tape tracks
You could use the inserts however and this would record. How would I do this? Plug your mic into a channel. Plug a trs y cable (aka an insert cable) into the insert point on that channel. Plug your effect into the other ends of the insert cable. It’ll put the effect in line after the preamp stage (...

Tascam 388 effects straight to tape tracks
Hi Folks, Sort of new to the 388 and have a question about effects and inputs. On my Tascam 4-track the effects send/return will go straight to tape when you hit record on any track for which you'd applied effects, which is awesome. You can hook any effect you want to the effects send, run a mic str...

Re: Tascam 388 Pan Pot - Bad?
Thought ya'll might like to know I pulled the back cover off the 388, sprayed some cleaner into the offending pot and it cleared things right up! Yay!

Re: Tascam 388 Pan Pot - Bad?
Thanks for the tip. I've found some pictures of the bottom with the cover off and can see you have access to the pan pots, just above the fader sliders. I should just spray some deoxit on the back of the pan pot and turn the knob?

Re: Tascam 388 Pan Pot - Bad?
What happens if I take off the pan knob in question, and unscrew the nut holding it to the board? Can I shoot some DeOxit down there that way, or not?

Re: Tascam 388 Pan Pot - Bad?
How careful do I need to be taking it apart? Any tips? I am asusming I can't put it upside down, or can I? Is that the best way to clean the pot as well?

Tascam 388 Pan Pot - Bad?
I was using the Tascam 388 at my practice space today. It belongs to my space-mate so it's not mine but I've used these before so he let me have at it. I was doing some guitar overdubbing to the left side of track 5, and suddenly the audio got all scratchy. I figured it was a dirty head so I cleaned...
