Im assuming your thinking of cutting up a store bought Microphone cable which sounds like an exspensive idea considering that you'll soon need that cable and have to shell out some bucks. I opened the 57 I have here at home to check for you but unfortanetley there was only 2 leads in it. I would just look for a spot where solder is but has no lead coming out.
