Hey, I need a stereo mic for some sound reinforcement and recording of live productions. A Shure VP88 was suggested but it is a M-S mic and I am thinking that the choirs and performers that will be recorded might benefit from an X-Y setup. My events happen both indoors and outside. Any other suggest...

I am a big fan of both the 4050 and the U195. If I had to pick one it would be tough. I guess it would be the 4050 because I could find a used one at a nice price. But I call the U195 my "sweet jesus" mic because that is what I say when I hear things sounding nice with it. Which happens a lot! Jason

I am a big fan of the 4050. I have a pair and use them for a number of different things. The SM7 is a good mic to change it up with. You might also like the AT4047.

What model/art number of Jensen Tranny did you get? I have been thinking about doing the same thing with mine. I am curious to hear your thoughts after you get some time on them again.

For tom mic's I use 57's if the drummer has questionable control and I use my Beyer M-88 classics (Limited Ed) if they can hit well. I really like the sound of M-88's on toms.

I use to mix live sound on the 2404 and it is a functional board but it could use more headroom in my mind. I would be tempted to try the A&H but I have not used that model before.

If I had the money I would. I really like the Audix OM-5 / OM-3 mic's.

I have an LXP-1 that has the same type of issue. I would love to find a fix for it. I love this box! My LXP-5 has not acted up yet (keeping my fingers crossed). Please let me know if you find a fix!

stereo guitar amps for recording are cool. For live gig's you tend to see those with multiple amps do it for a different clean and dirty tone. I have also seen people lug in amps for separate lead and rhythm tones.
