Re: In Defense of Beringer - The Final Word
Never had that wine...
I think there's an H in there somewhere
I've actually only tried very few behringer things. But I think most people beef with it is that it's unreliable.

Re: lowpassing Bass ?
I never have because I think those noises can add character, especially when mixed in with everything else.
Bass is very deceptive when mixed with a whole song. It will usually sound completely different in the mix as when it does solo'd. So does everything else, but not to the same extent, imo.

Re: is there any way to get something to 'appear' in mono?
Yeah I was thikning after I posted this about trying that, as I think it would be the easiest, and possibly only way to really do this with any success. I suppose it would be cool as a secret track or something.

I assume not, but I thought someone may know a trick. I thought it would be cool to have it so that you can't hear something in a song unless you're listening in mono.
I'm guessing if you could, a lot more people would be trying it.

Re: Whats the WIDEST record ever?
Man, any Faith No more album while Mike Patton was invloved was friggin awesome. I've never noticed any problems with the recordings, but I listen to them all on an old tape player. Even the first one with Chuck was good.
Just gotta chime in, after all that's what FNM stands for.

Re: just looking for some mixing pointers
Yeah, I would suggest reading up on the internet about EQ and compression and trying it out. It's really tough to give someone pointers when they haven't heard the music. The best thing to do is to expiriment. Getting good monitors is pretty important so that you can hear the changes in EQ well enou...

Re: Some Kind Of Monster
I listened to it, then proceeded to break it after I was finished. No gutar solo's and no drum fills. They peiced together jams in pro-tools, it sucks. It's like they didn't even friggin try.
I hope the movie ends with them breaking up and james beating the shit out of lars.

Re: Stereo Overheads, hats too loud, ride too soft, suggesti
I see what you're saying, and I agree 100%, but this was done in a home studio with not a great headphone mix blasting in the guys ears. He played it how he was used to playing it, which was the right thing to do in the situation. I'm just trying to be a perfectionist here. I'm mainly looking for ti...

I'd say if they were a good band that would be worthwhile to work with, then you should cut them a deal because it could benefit you and possibly get your name out in the future.
But that's just me.

Re: Stereo Overheads, hats too loud, ride too soft, suggesti
Re-recording really isn't an option. Fortunately it's not really all that bad, the band is perfectly happy with it, I just want it to be perfect.
I'll maybe try some more extreme compression and see how that works out.

Stereo Overheads, hats too loud, ride too soft, suggestions?
I recorded some drums with just stereo overheads for the cymbals, no hat or ride mics. On most of the tunes it sounds fine, but on one particular, when I have the ride level good, the hats are too loud. It's mainly due to the fact that he is doing off-beat hi-hat openings which cut through like a kn...
