I seem to have a Russian mic with the Chinese power supply.
You need to earth the XLR plug barrel at the mic end.
Which pin gets jumpered to ground on the power supply cable?[/quote]

Is there a central point with info on the chinese 2500? I'm assuming mine is, since I got it just before the news hit. What is the "weird resonater disk?" What does it signify? How big or small is the big or small power supply?

Re: recommendations for a guitar preamp/DI

Hey, My friend has one of those Tascam USB soundcard jobbies. He says that the sound he is getting from his guitar directly plugged into it isn't so hot. He does a lot of super-saturated, shoegaze type stuff. So, he's thinking to get some kind of preamp or DI to use in front of the built-in pre of ...

The old telephone pickups worke by induction, They became teh secondary coil of an air core transformer, with the coil of the phone's earpice as the primary. Might work off powerful speaker drive cables, or near the actual speakers.

I've been really digging the Fibreskins on toms, and the Rennaisance on snare tops. Clear Diplomats on snare side. Acquarian on kick batter, and front kick head is just about anything, with a modest hole. I like toms dark and short, and that high pitched ring from around an inch in has to go. Simila...

Re: This bothers me!

I think being narrowminded is what should be left aside. To say you wont use anything that starts with METAL or anthing along those lines is a bad thing. To say that Modeling amps are bad is wrong. Everything has its place somewhere, its just a matter of where!! thats the million dollar question......

It's a whole lot easier to get a spinet into your friends van than it is to rent a truck and get a whole team of friends together to move a huge upright. Actually, if you have the board, straps, blankets and dolley to do it right, it's much easier to move a grand. I believe that these items can pro...

For a start, any pedal that says metal or some variant on it (exception: Danelectro Black Liquorice Metal). Next if it says metal and digital or some variant of that. Third I tend to hate Big Muffs. Fourth most Boss Distortion variants. The OD's can be okay.

It's hard to beat the original Ratt, for sound. It's probably the most reactive pedal of its kind I've ever played. For more flexability, the Boss SD-2 dual overdrive is pretty cool. You can remote switch it between two settings, so if you're getting you unclean sounds from it, you can have a crunch...

I'm going to assume that we are talking strictly about guitar sounds here, so the meaning of some of these terms in a wider context won't apply. Overdrive usually refers to a mild form of distortion, intended to mimic the sound of a driven tube amp. Or sometimes the actual driving of a tube amp. Fuz...

Fuck 8th Street Music in Philly!!! I have ALWAYS had a problem there, most of the time it's the piss-poor attitude that forces me out the door. And I ALWAYS forget about it, then I give 'em another try and I'm immediately reminded of why I hate the place. I've only dealt with them on the phone, but...
