I like the sound of a classical guitar with nylon strings finger picked against an electronic, rhythmic bed. I also like to have a performance tracked several different ways at the same time: mic 1/3 up the fretboard, mic on the sound hole, two separate pickups one D.I.ed all to separate tracks... m...

"Breakfast With You," another case for the deadlin
"Breakfast With You" is a song I wrote the lyrics to in 2004. It's here: http://www.BenjaminWells.net Four years later I wrote the music and started playing it out. Two weeks ago I received a call from another local musician who wants to put together a compilation CD. She was asking for a recording ...

Good stuff
Sounds good. I'd bring down the lead vocal on Dangerlove. It doesn't really blend. Try to make space in the spectrum for it rather than just turning it up. Your myspace editor jacked up the player and I couldn't even see it without scrolling all the way over to the right. The songs are good. I like ...

I took an iBook apart once and put it back together. The mic was pretty deeply embedded in the machine, and the screen, but I did get it out. I used to like the sound of these mics too. I recorded Blackbird through the pin hole mic on that old iBook. Here it is: http://benjaminwells.net/audio/BENJAM...

I saw this on Craigslist and I thought there might be someone on here who could do it.

I think the subtle differences in power are over-blown. When you're talking about two generations of processors, that's when you see a huge difference... but if $300 could buy you most of a huge external hard drive or more memory, I'd put the money there.

Arts Tsar...
I thought Obama re-framed the "Big vs. Small" government argument rather well by suggesting a smarter one. To me, smart government is one which supports arts education. Shouldn't our kids know who Louis Armstrong was? How about Duke Ellington? John Coltrane? Ask any 12 year old in France who these g...

Great thread... and reading it I was reminded of the current Springsteen song "Working on a Dream." I've been doing drywall (apropos to the song) and listening to a lot of radio. If you've heard the song, what do you think about the out of tune whistling solo? I think it's as believable as a too ski...

Who?
Paula Abdul? She'd probably shack up with the surgeon general. The poor kid would be named Sanjay Abdul Gupta Jr.???
But maybe Quincy Jones himself?
Herbie Hancock perhaps?
Bono?
wait, what am I thinking... how about The Boss?
You know who's earned it... Bonie Raitt.
