"young people" starting a band (AND everyone else as well) should just have fun with it. Things won't/can't happen if everyone hates what they're doing (that's the time that i say "stop")

pretty much what everyone else on here said.

I know, and when I saw the eq, it was pretty balanced out, so it's not any specific frequency, it's just the intensity of the song could come across better with more attention in the low-mids/mids... Guitars are predominently midrange instruments, I agree, but the acoustic guitar has got a natural s...

Sounds a bit anemic, man... like, there's a whole frequency range in the middle that is being ignored. if that's the point, then "cool", but I think you'd get more of a dramatic effect if you went from that really scooped type of sound where everything is all lows (bass djembe) and highs (guitar) if...

Hey man... I think the levels are all pretty good, but I think the drums sound like there's a blanket between the drum and the mic. And I think the keyboard could come out in the mix more, but not by much. The snare and toms sound really good (IMHO), and it's not a bad sounding recording. I don't kn...

I've tried the "ambient" sound and I hated it. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I know why. Did you try putting a subtle "reverb" on the ambient mic? I mean, not enough to make it reverberate and get all washy, but from what I know about the reverb plug-ins that I've used, the mono sound is s...

The vox don't have a bad sound... they just need some compression, and maybe a bit of technique. You're using a dynamic cardioid mic, which means you're going to get "proximity effect". What that means is that the further from the mic you get, you'll lose low frequencies. If you stay at one distance...

I love my Tama Starclassic kit... Maple shells with the a lacquer finish. They're nice and loud, but they sing out so nicely. I recommend them, but I'm sure we're going for two different types of tones... I had a Rogers kit (from the 70s I think) at some point, and those sounded great too! I think t...

I have a similar room set up (except a lot more messy, usually), but I find that when I've got my bed up against the wall to dullen the resonances a bit, it makes it easier to get better sounds that way... because I'm not dealing with reflections from ALL sides of the room... Just a pain in the ass ...

Record an awesome kick drum.

In all seriousness, I think you should specify the type of music the kick drum is going to be in, because what sounds great to one application may not work for another application.

I'm a rookie, don't have much experience with panning of reverbs (all I have is the Sonitus plugins that come with Sonar) But I do have some Carlin for ya on this here topic: ..."we swam in raw sewage!! You know... to cool off!" "speaking of my colon, I want you to know that I don't automatically wa...

I'm not by any means a professional, nor do I have an EXTENSIVE amount of experience, but I'll share what little I feel I have learned... My recording experiences have come from "need" more than "want". I've played in bands that have very little money and no "cool" resources. The last band I played ...

Sigh...
