thanks for your response! so can anyone answer the questions: how common are these? anyone used them, own one? i would imagine that an awful lot of them got junked, probably fairly uncommon now but then any audio gear that is 30+ years old is by default. the good stuff has mostly been picked over b...

Let me know how it goes as I am using osx as well. I will begin my search accordingly. the only hang-up that might happen would be if the MPC2000 OS 1.72 didn't recognize the ATAPI device for some reason.... there was apparantly a 2000XL version of the OS that adressed removable media ATAPI devices...

No apologies needed, thanks for the info. I've been on the mpc forums alot lately trying to piece together what works and what doesn't. I guess you can mount a cf reader inside the 2000 but it requires flipping the scsi port inwards and splitting it. Not something I feel comfortable doing. I'll hav...

+1 on the "keep your day gig" (if you like it OK and it's not soul destroying). i've been bouncing around doing live production, remix work, and whatever else audio related that comes along for almost 15 years now. the grass looks greener on the day job side of the fence to me now, i do well enough ...

unless you knew exactly what to fix, i'd stay away from it. the usual 106 problems like a bad DCO or VCA/VCF chip are easy to fix once you have the part, but for a non-standard issue like the one you are describing it could be a black hole as far as tracking down the problem, and then there's no gua...

the Intermart/Microtech SCSI readers have not been made in years, so it's highly unlikely you would find one in a retail store. the PCD-40 is an intergrated small case (about the size of a small paperback, 4" x 6" x 3/4") and consequently it's not removable like some of the other Microtech/Intermart...

Let me be Captain Contrary and say I think this is awesome. Obviously nobody will look at it and consider it to be "equivalent" to the amp, but trying to stick that vibe in a pedal really is a brilliant scheme, and it honestly appeals to me a hell of a lot. Of course if they suck all bets are off. ...

they are unremarkable, more than likely. at one point, Peavey consoles were designed by some ex-employees from Soundcraft (think it was the Mark VIII?) but even if it were, the pre's would be your standard darlington pair transistor, loads of TL072/74/etc. op amps. not to say that it would be *bad*,...

ah, i had the Explorer reissue that was the brother to that one.... what a great guitar A few years later the same guy found an '83 Gibson Korina V Historic Reissue that had been tossed out of a window. The neck pocket was badly damaged and someone had tried to use wood screws to repair it (and fail...

Now someone needs to put out SR-16 samples for the MPC. What's stopping you. Really though, would anyone use these? I've got a Boss DR-770 with bad 808/909 samples, but it just ain't the same. And all the other sounds on it suck too. The problem with sample based Analog Drum Machines is you can't e...

I remember when I worked at a pro audio shop back in '97 people thought the little Mackie 1202's mic pres sounded better than the 8 buss due there being less circuitry in the mixer. I had one of those that I bought back then, and I wish I still had it damnit! I *do* remember people being hyped abou...
