Yes, except he has already bought the compressors and wants to try running his mix thru it! I say, go for it!!  Jeepers guys, this is tape op! Experiment! Have fun! Do it "the wrong way" and see if you like it!! It's true, try it the heck out and put an end to this insesive bickering...

All bickering aside, it's definitely good for someone who's new to the concept to know about this! Probably better to start with the "standard way" before trying deliberate techniques to get more wibbly-wobbly stereo motion. how dare you accuse me of bickering, what I was doing was called squabblin...

Respectfully, I disagree. If you do some googling on this I think you will find many engineers prefer to use non linked compressors on the stereo bus and it's an absolutely legit option. Definitely try it and decide for yourself if you like it. I have tried it with a few different comps, but never ...

this is neat...I feel like the music always sets the tone in Lynch's movies. I would just like to hear how the process evolves from concept to excecution..since it seems Lynch always has that in mind...probably a better question for Angelo...but it would be interesting to hear a musicians take on it...

Per the API Website: up is engaged.
Bottom right of this PDF which details the sing an routing:
http://apiaudio.com/docs/files/block_di ... _lunch.pdf
It seems that when engaged the dsub output is disabled for that module, and instead combines the output into the prior linked channel.

I don't think you'll find that method useable for a mix bus...you'll definitely want a linked pair of dual-mono's or a stereo comp. Everyone else did a good job explaining why. A better method for those DBX's would be creating stems of like items you want panned to the same location. Then using the ...

One trick I've used with overly boomy acoustic guitars is to double the track and duck it alongside with the original with the volume quite low to use the phase cancellation and thin out the track. Usually I'll eq out some of the frequencies to prevent too much phase cancellation. Little labs make a...

One item of note, on the new 21.5 iMacs (and Mac Mini) you can't upgrade the RAM yourself. You have to pay the Apple price for the memory. I kind of hate that. I need a upgrade bad. My 2006 iMac is maxed out at 3 GB of RAM and no lightning bolt connection. Running UAD and pro tools 10/11 is challeng...

There are so many variables.... But here's the bigger point. To all the people saying that 192 doesn't matter or that vinyl is a fetish there's one thing that hi-res and vinyl share. The listeners who get 192 and vinyl pay for their music. They buy it. When they buy it they support the bands, the l...

The Daking PreAmp & Eq channel strips dropped in price and are around your budget, even less used. Definitely something different than the UA 710 you have. Also, you could get started on a 500 series set up. A smaller rack and a few modules would put you on budget. Lots of decent stuff there. If we'...

I was just putting my new Apollo through the paces and did this little guitar amp simulation with a riff I was playing with. Playing is sloppy?but I was trying to go for an small overdriven tube amp like I use alot in the real world. I think it sounds pretty good...although the pickups on my Mosrite...

if it were me I'll get all the Massey Plugs...every single one is useful on every session I've done. The de-esser is top notch, and you can't beat the mastering limiter. Also, I'm a huge fan of the Plugin Alliance. Lots of monthly deals. You can snag a new plugin every month for a fraction of the pr...
