Why? I'd be interested to hear your opinions. I definitely like some of the ones listed WAY more than others. I'm curious if we agree on which are better/worse.digitaldrummer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 13, 2018 7:45 amI'll skip my opinions for the ones you say you already have...

Re: Reverb Help
I still use outboard a lot for reverb, but I like the Little Plate a lot. The PT Air reverb works really well on percussion, especially tambourine. Ya, I'm still kicking myself for selling my two outboard FX units.. Lexicon MPX 1 and Rock from Intelliverb. More so the later as they're harder to fin...

Re: Reverb Help
If you've already used this technique then please disregard my post. But once I started using the "Abbey Road trick" I realized I don't need so many flavors of reverb at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=738&v=4lNckK8N3to I'm familiar with this trick and use it all the time on mostly...

Re: Reverb Help
Sounds like you are missing these types: Spring. Nonlinear. Logic Pro's Space Designer. Also, maybe a good delay is a good thing to add, to make very short reverbs that have no tails. PSP Multidelay. Logic Pro's Delay Designer. The Logic Pro Designer sounds pretty cool from what I read in the post ...

Anyone Still Use McDSP Analog Channel?
I bought AC a while back and I kinda regret the purchase. I've demoed numerous saturation plugs that I like WAY better. I'm not sure if my information is correct, but AC was one of the first decent saturation plugs, ya? I feel that the technology has improved since then and I'm just curious if anyon...

Reverb Help
I'm thinking about grabbing another reverb plugin and I'm having a hell of a time deciding...there are so many choices, enough to make my brain cells pop. Right now my top two are Seventh Heaven (the standard version; if I had the cash for the Pro I would have already made a decision) or one of the ...

Waves Central Track Spacer
Anyone use the Waves Central Track Spacer plugin, or others similar ones? It seems like it'd be a helpful tool to teach an mature like me how to carve out eq holes. Anyone agree with this? I realize most seasoned engineers might disagree and lean toward the "just use your ears" comment, but my ears ...

I do love coffee..Theo_Karon wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 2:36 pmThe Piñon coffee from Trader Joe's. Empty about 2/3 of it out into another container, then gaff the lid back on. Best mellow shaker sound in the world. And it's delicious!

Re: Help Mixing Shakers
I don't think Street Fighting Man is a bunch of maracas. Just a pair mixed really, really, really loud. Like louder than the snare. It's a ballsy move that pays off in a big way. That's some amazing mixing if it's only one track of maracas . It sounds huge. Or maybe they all got em, playing together.

Re: Help Mixing Shakers
Keep the peaks below -12db and you should be aiight. There's all kinds of idears for makin' shakers above, but for authenticity, try ice cubes inna metal martini mixer. SFM: I think that was a handful of Keef's used needles inna metal martini mixer. And some of Brian's (he did contrib a little to t...

Re: Help Mixing Shakers
Oh ya, I got a couple more questions.. When you guys say not to drive the preamp, is there a certain dB level I shouldn't go above? More than one instrument can be classified as a shaker, yes? I'm using these maracas cuz they're all I have. I used to own a mini egg shaker too, but it got lost somewh...

Re: Help Mixing Shakers
Wow, thanks again for all the suggestions! Some great stuff in here. I got some free time to work on this song today and try a few things differently. Gonna change the SP1 (LDC) to a SM57 and not close mic. That's all I can do as far as mics go cuz it's all I've got. Well, I have a pair of SP1's. I ...

Lindell TE-100 - Last Day of Sale
The Lindell TE-100 is on sale over at Plugin Alliance for $45; the sale ends today, the 15th. I've had my eye on this on for a while and felt like I totally blew it when I missed the xmas sale for the same price. Since then I've realized how just how many EQs I already have.. to the point that I for...

Re: Help Mixing Shakers
Thanks for all the advice. I'm guessing that the shaker being used is just as important as anything, ya? I have a pair of maracas I brought home from a trip to Mexico when I was a kid. They seem pretty novelty. The guitars are heavily distorted and I can't figure out if that's what's making the shak...

Help Mixing Shakers
I'm using shakers for the first time in a recording, well technically maracas, and I'm having trouble getting them to sit well in the mix. Is it common to record multiple tracks? Street Fighting Man by the Stones sounds like it has 100 tracks of shakers. I just plugged in a LDC (MCA SP1) and shook t...
