I don't know how in depth your looking to go here but one thing that you want is a decent power supply. They range in price depending. Another thing I bought was a scope. Mines a USB one and it does the job for my small projects. A good soldering iron, with good solder. A good solder sucker!! And ye...

yea rock concerts...the ultimate dilemma. To be loud or not to be loud. I sometimes feel slightly guilty for contributing to the demise of a thousand(x2) ears when I'm FOH. But then again they are the ones who stay. I try to keep it at a moderate level (at least at the desk), but sometimes you get t...

No shit, talk about sweating beads. I put a ribbon mic together and when it came time to cut the material, corrugate and put it in, I sweating like a dog. It was also during a heat-wave and god knows you cant have any sort of air movement around the ribbon material when your working with it. Definit...

I've got a pair. I replaced the crossover in mine and it was like a veil being lifted. Although I still need to replace the L-pads once I gather the funds. But mine sound good. Not boomy at all. I've got mine sitting on my dresser and they are way too close for comfort. I mainly listen to them from ...

Two cents: I'd use a set up in MS with the horns in a semi circle in front. The Mid will be bright so you've got to be careful with who are where you put the player in the middle. Also making sure the horns on the side are balanced well is key.

I am sure I am repeating most of what others have said but here are my two cents. Water Bottle- Kleen Kanteens are thing where I am from but whatever floats your boat. Saving money, and plastic by using a water bottle is extremely easy. Recycling- From the trash to printer paper. Whenever I make not...

Someone mentioned to me about a technique one time of using two omnis spaced about a foot apart(I think but don't quote me on that) and panned to the center. Again I think that was it. Never tried it but I could imagine you could mess with the phase relations and stereo image by adjusting the levels...

Two audio books, not book on tape, that I would recommend would be: - The autobiograpy of Neumann, I haven't read it but I've flipped through the pages and it is pretty cool. - Master Handbook of Acoustics, F. Alton Everest. Very thorough and easy to read, not too math-y. Not really about recording,...

Yea, that is what normalizing does. It just adjusts the file so that the highest peak hits that 0 dB mark.

Yea, making the waveform symmetrical is not what mastering is about. You probably found your answer by now but I did have a question. Is your file normalized? and why?
