Sound engineers may use the system to automate some of their more routine tasks during a live performance, says JC Concato, head of audio engineering college Point Blank in London. "I can see it working for a live performance," he says. "But I don't think it will replace engineers, except perhaps f...

Well it's always a blurred line. Is Pink Floyd not considered 'pop' when they are as incredibility popular as they are? Pete Townsend always called The Who a 'pop' band, which I always respected.

I think itunes capitalized on the trend. Illegal downloading was already commonplace, which often lead to singe song downloads, or at the very lease the 'de-valuing' of the album. But it's spinning the facts a little, in my opinion, to say that albums dominated pop music. They were much more accepte...

You can't. I believe it's based on post count.

Your experience or perspective does not equal the sum total of reality.

Wait, I think I just tipped off a philosophical shitstorm there...

I just thought they had this upper mid/high edge to them that was not flattering to anything...sounded like a reference mic, in a bad sort of way.

Re: red

the red font on the forum indexes, etc... gets a little irritating. Also, and i'm sure this is me just missing something stupid, but i can't figure out how to change my status on my profile. I'm not in audio school anymore! I graduated two years ago! Oherwise, love the tomb! Did you seriously bring...

To be honest, I've used the 414 before, a newer one, and I did not really like the sound at all. :?

I agree with the above, plus I've used those mics in that setup. It sounds fantastic.

In an attempt to not completely derail the thread, I agree that an interview with Bazan and/or TW Walsh would be great. On the same line, I'm sure Jason Martin of Starflyer 59 would be a good interview too. He's self-produced an album a year for the last decade, while also doing work recording, mixi...

For sure, check out 'Bless This Mess'! I always liked what I heard of Pedro The Lion, but wouldn't consider myself a serious fan. I heard "Bless This Mess" on the World Cafe a few weeks ago and had a driveway moment. Fortunately, they announced who it was soon afterwards. I loved the tune. I was tr...

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Bazan at a show in Southern Illinois. We spoke for about 40 minutes, mostly about the Talking Heads and how much recording multi track can be. This was before the record was released; he was talking about all the fun he had adding all sorts of instruments and t...
