Paris Hilton can sue you if you use the phrase "That's Hot". No shit. Also, Jeep sued Hummer over the distinctive appearance of the grill (but they lost) So Gibson suing over the distinctive appearance of a Les Paul is not so far-fetched. It still pisses me off though. Fuck 'em - I don't buy their ...

Here's the other mind-blowing aspect of this: Gibson claims to have a patent on "a device that lets a user ?simulate participation in a concert by playing a musical instrument and wearing a head-mounted 3-D display that includes stereo speakers.?" Ummm, what version of GH has this? Wouldn't it make ...

Takes the truism "its all about the notes you're not playing" to the next level, then rapes it, repeatedly.

There's also the issue of all the music licensing that goes into games like GH and Rockband. Aren't some of the artists who are getting royalties off these games Gibson endorsees?

I've heard the guys who own Gibson are hotheads. I'm now inclined to believe it.

I can't believe that no one has suggested this: Delete everything you have so far, get a submarine and a bunch of Krank amplifiers and cabs and record it in the ocean. Be sure to put the second guitarist (i.e. the second fastest guitar player in the world) in a special liquid-oxygen chamber and reco...

If 'pocket' means anything to me, it is a tight relationship between bass & kick drum, i.e. Levon & Danko, Dunn & Jackson, etc. Check out the last 2-3 minutes of "Shake Everything You Got" on Maceo Parker's Life On Planet Groove. Three horn players and the crowd clapping on 2 and 4. Mace, Fred and ...

Seriously, why is it always "Reasons"? I get Earth, Wind, and Fire stuck in my head when I hear someone needlessly pluralize Reason. I always want to ask if they "got Cubases and Sonars too".

If a ribbon isn't available, try a LDD like the the EV RE20 or Shure SM7. You might want to be a bit closer with the LDD, or with the SDD like the 421, perhaps about 6" to 12". And you might want to split the difference between aiming between the hands and aiming down the bell. But, in a pinch, down...

My worst GC story is when I went to buy a new needle for my old record player. i got the player at a garage sale for $5, so I'm not looking to spend a lot on a needle. I take the old needle with me because the $7/hour shitstains at GC couldn 't find there ass in the dark with both hands. I g...

"Pro" and "Professional" I know, I know, there's a certain Digidesign product that has this as part of its name, but you gotta admit, "Pro Tools" is kinda dumb-sounding. Its like naming an LCD Television the "Clarity Box", or a pair of shoes "Walking Biscuits", or a car the "Fast Jalopy". Its a grea...

Yeah, this will just get you blocked-out audio files. I'm not sure if OMF actually retains your plugin settings. I've used OMF to go from DP to Cubase on one occaision and Cubase to Logic on a few others. In those cases, I did retain my fader positions and pans, but not inserts and sends. If your pl...

Go to Track view, select all. Under the Audio menu, select Freeze Selected tracks. Each track should be rendered as contiguous SDII files in that project's Audio folder.

in a technical sense, that is pretty incredible. I'd like to use it not to 'correct' stuff but for creative manipulation and warping hell out of audio Exactly. I've been eyeing Melodyne for a while but this puts it into 'must-have' territory for me. Or what will it do to non-pitched material? And t...
