ah yes the BZ mod and the impedance issue on the instrument in..do you have directions or something for how you did the mini-booster? I'm interested in checking it out.. I made my own layout from Jack Orman's version of the schematic http://www.muzique.com/amz/mini.htm and tweaked a few of the valu...

woah! awesome! you went all out.. so they still really retain the the same "sound" with those changes? They do, I was careful to only really mess with cleaning up the power supply and things in the dry signal path. The result is mostly just less noise and clearer dry sound, the echoes are a bit les...

the han-d-mag is the one to get..RS ones are too weak to work well.. don't forget to demagnetize the capstan and the metal roller stack left.. then you can mechanically align it..then do the electronics! I found putting (if not in place already) a 3 prong grounded AC cable on my 201 ground to chass...

Join the yahoo Traynor forum and read some of that stuff and ask some questions, they are wonderful amps with their own identity and with a few small tweaks will stand up with the best amps, they are actually made with better parts than most amps. That guitar magazine article that talked about plexi...

Ok, The YBA and YSR and not the same amp plus reverb and trem, they have the same power amp but the front end and tone stacks are completely different. Pete Traynor designed these amps to be rented and not blow up because he was tired of fixing the rental amps where he worked, they have huge Hammond...

If it works for the molex connectors in an MCI deck, it should work for Valley People.

I would look at the tank first, make sure that no wires have come loose inside the tank. Then the wires going to the tank, check them for continuity and make sure they are plugged in to the right place. Make sure the rotary selector switch is clean, you can loose it there. You should see 7v peak to ...

Well RMG says that the VM tape is the equivalent of 3M/Quantegy 8206 which is lubricated tape for low speed logging machines like 911 and black box recording, it has a more limited frequency response, but for what we're using it for it's perfect. Here's the problem, 3M and Quantegy state in their da...

http://www.taperecorder.co.uk/cleaning.htm Hasn't Zonal been out of business for several years, if tape isn't stored properly (and sometimes even when it has) the adhesive degrades after 7 years. And if it's the equivalent of 457 then that's a second strike against it. I see on the internet all the ...

Ok, there are bunches of great tutorials on the web about cleaning the heads, de-magnetizing, and other such tape machine maintenance, so I won't go into it because a google search will turn up pictures of how to do it. 1. Is it humid where you live? 2. What kind of tape was used for the replacement...

True, it's a better solution. But most of the time you'll be find lifting grounds. It's the 0.01% of the time when the power situation is totally fucked and you grab the microphone with your right hand while holding the strings with your left that it becomes a serious issue. Very serious, very fast...

Re: ground loops II- The Two Amp Rig
Build one of these, it works quite well. http://www.geofex.com/FX_images/humfree2.gif I have been looking for a schematic from something like that. I wonder if there are different options re:transformers. I used Triad transformers in mine, got them from mouser, they're a little more expensive than ...

Re: ground loops II- The Two Amp Rig
I just finished building a tweed deluxe-ish copy, which I would like to use for recording in conjunction with my trusty blackface Deluxe (I like 6V6s.) However, previous attempts to run more than one amp at a time have been met with horrific amounts of noise, presumably from ground loops. For those...
