That said, I'd like to try that shit in my kick drum. Dunno why. This is a good idea, at least worth trying. I'd start by lining the inner shell with the foam. Make a long strip the same length as the circumference of the drum. And the width just a bit wider than the depth of the drum, so when you ...

FS: Owens Corning 703 2" , Green Glue - NJ/NYC

I'm done with my garage studio build and have some left over materials. Brand new in box Owens Corning 703 2", 6 pieces, $50. 2 cases Green Glue, 12 tubes each. $75 I can deliver in North or Central Jersey, or probably NYC, depending on where you are. Would trade towards a nice monitor controller, o...

The issue I had with the insert point is that it is unbalanced -10dBu, pre master fader. Ideally I'd like to have the insert after the fader and makeup gain, so I can drive the inputs of the post processing hard.

Multing at the patchbay - is it bad?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to monitor AND record the 2-bus main mix from my mixer. The mixer (Studer 269) does have a monitor out, but I'd like to do some processing on the mix buss. The signal flow I have is like this: Lynx Aurora 16 output -> Studer -> Post fader Mix buss out -> EQ -> M...

Green Glue, 2 cases

I am selling 2 cases (12 tubes each) of Green Glue. I just finished building out my garage, and ordered too much. From what I hear, this stuff is best served fresh, so I'm trying to sell it instead of hold onto it for future projects. $150 each, or $250 for both. I'm in Maplewood NJ. Local only, no ...

Re: foam... If you go that route, wouldn't you want closed cell instead of open cell, fr the fact that closed cell will actually be more sealing ('cause the cells are closed)? Or is that not how that works? I've been thinking about this very thing. My garage outer leaf is stucco over paper, no shea...

Thanks for the reply. My primary objective is to keep the sound IN, so as to not disturb the neighbors. It is a pretty quiet neighborhood, although there is some highway noise off in the distance, and a train line very close. I'm actually wondering about a foam plus cellulose approach to the outer l...

Detached garage outer leaf - beef up vs spray foam

Hi all I recently moved to a house in NJ, and part of the deal was I got the detached garage to use as my studio. I plan on doing a true room within a room build with completely decoupled inner walls, with 2 layers of drywall, green glue in between. I was reading the Rod Gervais book - he mentions y...

desk

I made one recently out of oak ply and solid oak for the edging. I made it modular so the left module can move over if I ever get a bigger mixer, or break it out into just rack stands.

Sunset Park

my studio partner and I are about to walk away from the studio we build 4 years ago. It's in Sunset Park, so probably too far from you, but it is fully build out with a control room, huge live room, great sounding space. I'm sad to see it go, but I don't live in the city anymore. http://www.5dstudio...
