I love the picture of the singer holding the pop filter in front of the mic, great idea! Make the singer do something useful for once! I wasn't actually planning on recording vocals, so for some stupid reason I didn't take a pop filter. But luckily I kept the mesh fronts on my monitors (to have som...

Ok. So largely to your all of your advice, I ended up using the huge room. It was freakin great. As you'll see in the pics, I have no isolation of the guitar and bass amps. I had the amps low enough to the point where they wouldn't bleed into the drum mics. Originally the goal to was to record guita...

I personally love a PRO VLA for vocals. I haven't tried many other compressors, but I haven't had any problems at all and pumping is not a problem.

I was hoping that the signal would just pass through. Another question...if I were to get a one of those new MOTU Ultralites that have 8 lines, to daisy chain it to my 828, how important is a external clock? Could I get away without getting one, without too many problems?

Using the ADAT inputs on MOTU 828 mkII

The other day I saw an article with a guy who used an old ADAT for extra line inputs plugged into the ADAT input into the converter. Easy 8 discrete line ins. How would this work? I'm assuming this would work in real time? Also would there be any a-d coversion going on. Would the channels going thro...

Thanks guys, you confirmed what I was leaning towards. Now...

Amps...Isolated or live feel?

Fortunately I know how the room sounds, freakin great. I've recorded drums in there before. Lush. Not too wet. So I'm not to worried on that end.

I would go with the B3/C4 in MS about 3' away into the VLA for the guitar.

Hope the session goes well.

Choosing A Recoridng Space

I was just asked by a band to track an EP for them, with basic tracks recorded live. The last few recordings have been plagued by the click- it's killed the energy. So at this point we have a few options as to recording spaces and I'm almost baffled right now. It's a really tough call. They'll be re...

Unfortunately I haven't received much hardware with a couple exceptions, but I have received a whole bunch of useful stuff that we sometimes forget about. -Endless amounts of 1/4" and RCA cables -Endless amounts and varieties of adapters -Decent shielded audio cable -Neutrik connectors -A pair of Sn...

do they have the benny hill theme rhythm programmed on the mellotron? 'cause if it had it the beatles would have totally used it instead of those chessy flute sounds.

There's actually an easy solution to all of this chatter.

Get T-Racks and master it yourself. Done and done. Sometimes you just gota do it yourself.

Actually, I wish the bands I recorded had the budget to go to a real mastering engineer.
