Otari 8 track question
Okay, so I've come across an Otari MX 5050 8 track that I can get for 400 bucks. It is on e-bay, which scares me a bit, but the guy has good feedback so that makes me less nervous. This will be my first reel-to-reel (what a time for that, right?) and I just wanted to know what kind of tape these mac...

I'm either looking for a TSR-8 or a Tascam 388. how many hours will the heads last before they become worn out and need replacing? i will of course be cleaing them frequently and with eac...

nice interview, thanks for posting that.
his music is all over the place, so if someone says you sound like him that could mean a number of things.

Re: How do I learn to sing good?
i think i'll quote david berman here when he sang "all my favorite singers couldn't sing" (like leonard cohen, etc.) berman himself is not a good singer by normal standards but i love his voice anyway. just sing, you dont have to be "good", just find your own style and be yourself when you do it. i ...

Re: Where should I head next?
i don't really have anything against digital, in the end they're all just tools to me. but the m-box/protools left a bad taste in my mouth for digital but again it was probably the process of sitting in front of a computer screen clicking and shit. the sound was not bad, at all. i really enjoyed the...

Re: Where should I head next?

Re: Where should I head next?
The thought of getting a digital recorder crossed my mind. I still have a lot of thinking do on this. I agree about cassette, I always hear horror stories about the HISS from recording to cassette but it just takes some work to learn to get good sounds from it. I have some pretty damn good sounding ...
