Re: show off your studio...

Holyshit! Does that Mac SE still work? Does it still serve a purpose? P. I wish! Alas, it is only the case, all gutted. I keep it around because one day I hope to make it into a fishbowl. That one day will probably be a long time from now. A drummer from one of my old bands had it sitting i...

Re: Let's Start a Fun Project/Game

I still plan on contributing, but I'm currently digging myself out from a backlog of work that has hit me all at once. Once that's done, my evening recording time should be freed up again.

Also forgot to mention that I can help host MP3s a little as well. Let me know if more space is needed.

How good of a deal is this: Biamp 2442 $500

http://portland.craigslist.org/msg/56389215.html I e-mailed the guy and asked how the preamps sound, of course he said they sound great, but I'm just wondering if these are decent boards. I did UTFSE and saw that biamp stuff can be good. Just wondering if this is a good price. Seems like it could b...

Here's my super-high-tech home office/studio:

Nothing fancy, probably a ton of acoustical issues and such, but it works for me at the moment.

Re: Can anybody here sing like Beck?

Man, don't think you should worry about sounding like beck. I like what you have going on as it is. I think if you try to emulate beck too much, it'll just be a song trying to emulate beck. Use your own voice/style -- it's cool and you'll carve your own niche. I like the song a lot, pretty crazy and...

Re: Let's Start a Fun Project/Game

As someone with limited experience who finds it all too easy to get sucked into the "gotta have gear" game, I think this could be a really great exercise for me to strengthen fundamental engineering and problem solving skills. I'd totally be down for something like this, time allowing. Especially no...

Your predictions for Behringer's new product line

So on Behringer's web site, they're advertising that they will be unveiling 75 new products at NAMM in a couple days. What/who do you think they'll rip off/undercut this year?

Serious and comical predictions are both welcome.

Re: message board slang that i hate.

When people use "u" as an abbreviation for "you." Or "ur" for "your."

Symbols instead of cymbals.

Pups instead of pickups.

Along with pretty much all of the other annoyances stated earlier in this thread.

Re: What's your favorite Casio?

I just picked up a Yamaha PSS-270 tonight at Goodwill for $9.99. Concerned that I paid too much, I checked out eBay and found that they sell anywhere from $60 - $150. Schweet. Anyhow got it home and had to fight off my three-year-old to check out the sounds. He won. After he went to bed, I just play...

Samson C-Control Users: Help w/ Headphone mix

I know at least a few others on here have the Samson C-Conrol. I've been having some trouble figuring out an acceptable way to route signals to my Samson Q5 headphone amp while allowing the talkback option to work. The Q5 only has one stereo input, so I can't just run one of the 2trk audio outs and ...

Re: what do you listen on?

Depends on where I am: - Downstairs: Pioneer home theater receiver (bought for cheap at Costco) through Audiosource speakers (also bought for cheap at Costco, but great sound for the price) wired throughout the house. - Office/Studio: Wharfedale Diamond Pro 8.2 Active Monitors - Subaru: Stock stereo...

Re: Wharfedale Pro Diamond 8.1 Active or Tannoy Reveal Activ

Haven't done any comparison, but I do have the Wharfedale 8.2 Actives and I love them. Granted, I really don't have much of a frame of reference, but they seem very accurate to me. I hear things through these speakers that I'd never caught before. Bass response seems a little low and seems to be a c...

Re: Rackmounting dbx 163x

The best deal I found on one with holes was here:

http://www.samash.com/frameset.asp?SKU=RUNS1

Right now they have free shipping on all orders, so it's $14.99 shipped.

Re: Rackmounting dbx 163x

How did you attach yours to the shelf? I have a universal rack shelf in use for a couple other units that has the holes drilled in the bottom, but I noticed the 163x doesn't have any holes tapped in the bottom. I'm assuming you just set it in there, or double sided tape? Velcro? Just curious. Thanks...

Rackmounting dbx 163x

I recently got a 163x, which came with a rack ear on one side. Since it's a 1/2 rack unit, it won't sit level dependably in my rack. I've seen adapters on eBay (there's one on there now) to close up the other 1/2 rack space, but am wondering if these can be found new anywhere, or if I just need to k...
