Is it overloading the input if so the 1588B or 1588C have adjustable gain. Pin 2 is prob connected straight to ground, this is full gain. If you put a pot in between 2 and ground these preamps become much more usable on loud sources. If you see my 1628a mods on this board there has pretty clear ins...

+1 If it looks like shit, the connection is prob shit, Silver or not. When working on old equipment that has been stored in questionable locations it's tough enough to get lead to flow properly.

Ask them to mow your lawn for free. (Or sub anything else in there)

I have done projects for 0 dollars, but a proverbial lawn was mowed by said client.

That don't sound like a PS issue to me. Does it ruin all tracks? Does it sound like digital crap? Have you watched your task list while recording to see if something pops to the top and sucks up some resources for a bit? Have you tried recording to a different HD? Have you tried different DAW softwa...

I learned somewhere around '88 the "oh shit" will just make things worse. Calmer heads will prevail. I used to be on call for a large Ref-Lab and 18 stat lab locations. Nothing like getting called in at 3am with an instrument down that is holding up 50+ employees trying to get results out for 12K + ...

Sounds like you are off to a great start. Plan B always seems to be my daily routine. I dont know why I attempt Plan A. Well, some times I need to paint a sign on my forehead that says "Hush my mouth!" In this particular case, in the blink of and eye (how long does that last? if my computer was wat...

Nothing today (it is Sunday, after all). Last night, put together a microphone shoot-out that I will try to get some results up for as soon as possible. Ribbons, active ribbon, condensers, dynamic; Audio Technica, Shiny Box, Fat Head, AKG, MXL, Teac, on vocals, electric guitar, and percussion (drum...

I worked on screwing up my Youtube channel, real good. I made the mistake of "trying the new channel design," and apparently one feature of the new channel design is that it disables all the Video Manager and Analytics and everything else. So, might as well crank out this CD order and get it ready ...

How many hours did you guys put into that, all together? I don't even want to add it up, but I know it's 50 hrs + I think it will be worth it, the preamps have these huge Forest brand input transformers. We added a guitar input for both channels, pretty sweet clean sound. It has 2 channels, in each...

I'm putting the finishing touches on a Magnecord PT6-BN. Had this thing on the shelf for a while, dug it out for the holidays. It was in bad shape, looked like it was under water for a while. It's up and going now. Before: http://beyondsanityproductions.com/images/stories/Magnecord/MagnecordBefore2....
