I do rely on other income to pay rent etc. So I'll start considering reinvesting. The band that I'm producing is very business minded and I expect the record to do well for the level they are at and that people will hear it. I'm going to let them worry with that end of things as I feel it's out of m...

reinvestment
Hey all studio owners/ producers/ engineers I'm producing my second record but it's my first gig to get paid for. I'm very financially conscious and I'm wondering how much of the money I make should be reinvested into gear/ tools that make my job easier, more efficient and hopefully make my recordin...

Help With Tambourine Programming
I was listening to U2's "All That You Can't Leave Behind." I don't know if they played or programmed the tambourines but they fit really tight with Eno's loops that are going on. I'm assuming that they programmed them because I don't know anyone that can play a tambourine half-decently. What softwar...

final mix levels
I'm mixing an album right now and recorded in Pro Tools at 24-bits and left plenty of room on individual tracks. Now I'm mixing and if I leave the Pro Tools Master Fader at 0db then I end up with pretty quiet mixes. Should I just bump the master fader up so my peaks are around 3-4db for the masterin...

new Ray LaMontagne - "Gossip in the Grain"
Anyone else listened to it yet? I'm loving it, sounds amazing. I got my version on vinyl. On the label it reads, "Digitally Recorded." That was a shocker. I didn't think Ethan worked in digital, I kind of respected him for being so "old school." Nothing against digital, it's just one of his "things."
