surprised that nobody linked to this, from a few days ago http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/11/11/entertainment-us-usa-newyork-shooting-idUSBRE9AA0LK20131111 Victims Soroush and Arash Farazmand, who were brothers, were the guitarist and drummer in the Yellow Dogs, a band that formed in Iran's capi...

there are two types of underground here. Type 1 would be a band or group or community of artists, etc, keeping stuff off social media, off itunes, off filesharing, as an aesthtic, as a purposeful feature of the art. The exclusivity is part of the experience, and you'd like it more that way than you ...

I think some of the flash mob stuff does this. "we are doing something coordinated and live at xxx time, and if you miss it, you missed it". People record the stuff and you can watch it later, but were you one of the COOL FEW who were IN ON IT? To me though, ok so you have an underground music scene...

long term HD storage: vacuum bag?

After I transfer over the audio stuff, well it doesn't make sense to get rid of the drive. but I don't wan...

I know, I'm just speculating that maybe if the cables came from monoprice with pin 1 to chassis, that moving the cable around is causing some intermittent connection to ground and cackling. Just a shot in the dark. I've ordered av cables and mounts from monoprice, and 1/8th" cables. The vga cable wi...

did your WD 2TB have a 32MB cache, or 64?

With a 64 MB cache it should be able to keep up.

Still, moving parts and all, there are bound to be faster or slow seek and read times. Do a google search for read/write speeds of whatever drive you're looking at, and compare that way.
