And while generally in the North Beach neighborhood, City Lights Bookstore (Columbus and Broadway) is an icon from the beat era and still an amazing independent bookstore - the kind of place you "feel" history in. http://www.citylights.com/. Excellent classical guitar store (+ sheet music and other ...

I couldn't get enough of Steve Earle's "Live at Montreux 2005" (released 7/2006) - dude's got something to say and a wonderful way of saying it!

I just put a pack of those (nanoweb phosphor bronze) on last night and looking forward to checkin' them out (generally use Elixir Polywebs). Looking forward to seeing how they compare. I tried one set of the D'Addario EXP's, and liked them better than non-coated strings but not quite as much as Poly...

Re: ANOTHER Genius lays it all out....

Describing the studio: "I got some other s**t over there I don't even know what the f**k it is...". Love this guy and I'm only 39 seconds into the video...(do you know what I'm saying?)...

+1 for etymotic 6i's. Buy.com did a special on 'em last year for like $85. Aside from everyday use, they've brought the joy back to air travel (blociing out the overall cabin din and of course the screaming 2 year olds :-) i just picked up the etymotic 6i isolators last month. i'm really digging the...

Re: Behringer headphone ampifiers. Your experiences? HA4700

+1 on both 4700 and the earlier (4-channel) version (4600?) - nice feature set (mono, aux), LOUD, and decent sounding. Behringer got this one right IMO...

Thin Lizzy cover band in SF on Sat 3/17 for St Patrick's Day

Hey! My Thin Lizzy cover band BAD REPUTATION is playing as part of the St. Patrick's Day celebration at San Francisco's Ireland's 32 bar from 5-8PM this Saturday 3/17. No cover, and should be a screamin' good time. I'd love to meet some of the local TapeOper's in person, so be sure to say howdy if y...

+1. When I got out of school and decided to move to LA and try and get into the biz, I worked up a good phone spiel, like "Hey I'm a new engineer in town, can I come down and talk to you about your place and see if we might be a good fit" yada yada.
