I still have both my Digi 001 and TDM system with my Mac G4 10.3.9! None of that shit sells for anything so I'm just hanging onto as a backup/nostalgia.

Re: I highly recommend REAPER
I used Pro Tools for 15 years. I first had a Digi 001 on PT 6.4. I then upgraded to a TDM system with 3 24/888's that I bought off eBay for pretty cheap for Pro Tools prices 10 years ago. It was still PT 6.4 but it was TDM now. The zero latency monitoring was pretty cool, even with plugins; and that...

Re: unhyped kick drum mic
Another option would be the Heil PR48. It has a big bump at 75hz and 4khz but the mids are flat. So it has that low end heft but not a scooped sound.

Re: phase alignment and polarity adjustment plugins
I bought Audiomere Polarity Maximizer about a year ago and it rules. Super easy to use and saves on time. Totally worth the $50 they ask for. If you use Harrison Mix Bus as your DAW it come built in. Pretty rad!

Re: Your favorite general use eq plugin
ReaEQ sounds fine. Doesn’t add mojo but doesn’t add any harshness when boosting either. The RTA in it is cool so you can see spiky frequencies.
Metric Halo Channnel Strip sounds great. It actually has tone. I use that channel strip all the time. Love it.

I bought Metric Halo Channel Strip for $30 earlier this year! Probably my favorite plug in. The EQ and cocoon sounds excellent.

WTB: Alesis Wedge power supply and your old cheap reverbs
I lost my power supply for my Alesis wedge in a move! Anyone have one they want to part with? Also looking for some of the knobs that go on the sliders. I’m missing two and it bothers me. Also interested in grabbing a Lexicon Alex if anyone has one laying around. Maybe interested in an Alesis Midive...

Re: Oktava mk 012 hypercardioid capsules
Ah my bad I was thinking of the Sennheiser 604s that have the drum clips. People really seem to dig them on toms. I’m not anti-dynamic by any means. I’ve tried Shure 98s and Audio Technica atm450. The 98s are great. Just being able to put the anywhere rules. The atm450s were ok. I need to really fin...

Re: Oktava mk 012 hypercardioid capsules
I have the -10db pads. The are crucial for close micing drums. Thanks for talking a little in depth about the difference between the hyper and cardioid capsules. I've thought about checking out the e609's. They would be great for my mobile rig because of the clips. I have some Heil PR-28's which are...

Re: Oktava mk 012 hypercardioid capsules
Thanks for the reply! Hmmm if they sound less fat I may not like it, that my favorite part. Especially on toms! You are right I could try and buy from a place that has a good return policy in case I’m not feeling it.

Re: Oktava mk 012 hypercardioid capsules
The bleed is totally manageable but if it’s more manageable with the hypercardioid caps then I may drop some money.
I started using it on snare because I saw a video of Albini saying he using one about 50% of the time. That was certainly enough to sell me on it!

Oktava mk 012 hypercardioid capsules
I really love these mics on drums, particularly snare and toms. I just have the stock cardioid capsules they come with but I’ve been thinking about purchasing the black hypercardiod capsules to reduce cymbal bleed. Anyone have experience with them? Are they significantly different in their rejection...
