Re: Aiight, so we're a lotta musos here
To this day I still kinda like Dream Syndicate. No martini at the moment, but will read about the wrong guitar pick.

Re: How bad is blue tooth audio?
At work several years ago we tried to run a Bluetooth speaker, probably a REALLY cheap one, and it sucked. Could barely transmit 25’ across the room, constant dropouts. So if it’s dropping out constantly maybe it compromises the audio when it can barely connect? I use a BT speaker in my house, but i...

RE-20 windscreen
The stand my RE-20 was on took a dive, and when it hit the floor the front windscreen popped off. I'm having trouble getting it back in. There's a bit of a flange on the edge of the windscreen, but t doesn't seem to fit. Is there a "trick" that can be described? I was trying to use a pair of channel...

Re: Mastering recommendations?
I’ve done a couple of EP’s with Scott Craggs, who posts here as MoreSpaceEcho, and was pleased with the results.

Re: Drum overheads: Gefell, Sony
maybe try the Omni capsule at a distance of 1-2 feet for a bg/harmony vocal and see how that works for a different texture? MA100/101 would not be my first choice for a lead vocal but it has plenty of other uses. So far I’ve only used the cardioid capsule. My room is not great but kinda dead, so I’...

Re: Drum overheads: Gefell, Sony
My wife's the drummer of the house, so it will be this weekend before I can get her to do some tracks. I did track some acoustic guitar and backing vocals with it. My playing on the acoustic bit was a bit hamfisted, I want to try something more delicate and see how it sounds. It sounds good on acous...

Re: Mixing Headphones
I got these HD650’s and they are pretty good. Open back. Not hyped at all.
But theyre $220, so more than you wanted to spend (but close)

Re: Let's talk your favourite manual fades
Funny, I do both of those things. The fade ends right after some fall-apart thing or a stomp on a footpedal or a laugh. And I'm often cranking reverb up as the fadeout commences. Fun stuff.

Re: Drum overheads: Gefell, Sony
Zombie thread alert! I have been using a pair of Sony c38b’s for overheads for a couple of years, and they sound great. But this week I ordered a pair of Mojave MA-100’s tube SDC’s from reverb, and I want to A/B them with the Sony’s and see what sounds good. If the Sony’s sound better then I have mi...

Re: Cheap Sleeper Fuzz Pedals for Guitar
For a while I was enjoying Devi Ever pedals. From what I recall (it’s broken now) the Torn’s Peaker was pretty great. Not super cheap though. I have a Way Huge pickle that does muff-ish, and can get pretty dark and far away from the ripped Velcro sound, which I appreciate sometimes. It’s not cheap, ...

Re: EV 408
Thinking back, it was not 10-15 years ago I got those. Probably a pair for $100.
It was more like 20 years ago.
Totally a staple for me, so I bought one more.

EV 408
I like EV 408's a lot. I picked up a pair super cheap 10-15 years ago and have used them on lots of stuff. Pretty neutral. Balanced, no harshness. I have one permanently on a guitar amp and the other on snare. So I ordered a used one tonight for $89 to use on whatever else seems to need it. I like E...

Re: policies on vax or non-vax
I had my first gig in 14 months last night in Baltimore. In the Fells Point bar area maybe 1 person in 10 was wearing a mask. In the bar we played in literally no one had a mask. Maybe around 10 pm staff announced if you’re not actually imbibing a drink, put a mask on. Compliance was minimal. In tha...

Re: Anybody wishing they had a project.
I don't have room for this, and it's not that far away. A big thing in my small house, no thanks. But maybe somebody? Thought it was worth re-posting.
