I do not know your budget but Furman made a box called the SRM80. It was rack mount and could switch between 3 sets of speakers and I believe 4 Stereo ins. I have seen them on ebay for about 250.

You can buy a Digi 001 with an extra 8 channel light pipe converter and get 16 simultanious ins and outs. I use an Alesis AI 3 with mine and it works great for cheap.

But you have to remember overhead etc when calculating earnings. Also most mastering sessions are not as long as recording sessions. I have never been happy with the sound of a master if I am still eqing and compressing after 6-8 hours.

I have 3 md504's and love them on toms. They sound pretty similar to my 421's. The difference is that they do not have as much low end. This does not bother me most of the time on drums.
