Berny Kesel single coil pick-ups from old Kay guitars are often called "klenex box" pick ups because that's what they look like.

i did this with some crappy SMPro Audio pres I used to own.
I had a mic way, way away from the band (down the hall and in the bathroom). It worked fine but was a little noiser then normal. Then again, with the mic 150' away from the source things are bound to be noisy.

If you are running unbalanced lines into a Digi002 you will get lots of weird pops, clicks, and overs for no reason. The 002 does not like unbalanced lines. Even using a trs jack with the negetive connection floating will be a big improvement over a TS cable in.

Glad to hear you like it. As I said in my post I think it's a good board just a bit limited. The one I had was a bit of a dud but it still served me well for many years.

Image It's amazing what happens when you use the search function.
The pre's on this thing are amazing but there is no eq (that's what mic selection is for).

I have a 60's McCurdy broadcast mixer that would be perfect for 4 tracking. It's 6 channel with direct out, asignable to 2 mono mix busses (L and R but no center), plus line ins. I wish i had a picture. It looks very Star Trek.

Mixing in pro tools takes 3 times as long and the results are only marginally better. The record company will always start with something bland and make it into something aweful. Good gear makes a big difference. Good songs and performances make a bigger difference. Cutting the vocal live while trac...

it's well worth doing if you've got an alright amount of space. I did it in a one and a half car garage. It's a great space to work and I do't drive the wife crazy. Toronto is blessed with back yard/laneway garages so I didn't have to worry about isolating it from the rest of the house. I only had t...

A new body for my crumbling, dying 1961 Kay Jazz II. I love this guitar but mine is in such bad shape I'm almost afraid to touch it. I'm going to build a frankenstien guitar with the neck and electronics from mine and the body from this one. Anyone need a neck? I'll have one left over. http://www.on...

it might be a little more trouble then expected. PT LE won't read smpte time code, only midi timecode. You'll need a smpte to midi converter. I use a motu midi time piece for this job/. It has a smpte time code generator and coverts it to midi time code. Even then I think PT only locks to the start ...

Get yourself a convolution reverb plug in. Altiverb or jk_irr (it's free!). If you record a stereo wav of a short, sharp sound your mail room - a hand clap works well - load the file into the convolution reverb, and it will apply that reverb to any audio you desire. I've been sampling some of my fav...
