Tests are done. I posted the results at that site that rhymes with "Ear Butts". So far the ver.2 Cloudlifter has less noise, THD. Fet head is not flat with a 3 db rise from 500 hz down, a suprize. Anyone else able to compare to the Fethead? I've had a couple of those for a while and I have to say I...

Anyone have any familiarity with the small but vocal faction that boycott and crusade against Reaper? The claim goes something like this: Reaper encourages piracy by employing little to no protection. They do this to "artificially" grow their user base faster than the supposedly honest companies and...

There is a parts list (with prices) right on the article you linked to. Looks like a cool project. Scott Dorsey is one of the few people on the net I'd trust without hesitation. For the $60 or so it should cost (according to his parts list) to build it I think I'm gonna do it. You could actually fin...

There definitely is an inticing mystery to not having everything spelled-out for you, as a listener. I agree. Who could really describe exactly what's going on with some of those early "wall of sound" Phil Spector records? I'd bet it would be less thrilling if you could hear everything distinctly i...

I might suggest a pair of SM81s. You have a few of the KM84 style bright SDCs but unless one of the (what i am assuming to be lower end, since I'm not familiar with them) other ones fits the bill you might do well with a stereo pair of neutral unhyped SDCs. They fit the cheap requirement AND the "in...

About 8-9 years ago I had some friends that set up camp in an abandoned oil refinery in Philadelphia. You know those giant cylindrical metal ... storage things or whatever they are? Someone had cut an opening in the side so you could go inside. I don't know if they're all like this but there was no ...

Be aware that many of the older White equalizers were designed for speaker equalization with feedback and room mode elimination in mind. As such, there are LOTS of "cut-only" versions of the White EQs around. As far as I know (and I don't know all that much) that was their only intended use, and of...

It's interesting to me that of 3 of the 4 people who specified (myself included) it was the right ear that seemed more dull. Someone suggested talking on the phone as a cause and I have to admit that sounds plausible, except that I more often find myself using the left. Same with driving with the wi...

Do both of your ears sound alike?
I almost always end up switching the L/R once or twice when I'm mixing, and I'm continually surprised at how things sound subtly different in each of my ears. In my right ear things are just a tad less present, and I tend to mix just a bit brighter and louder on that side sometimes (this is much muc...

You should look around for some of the older EQs produced by White Instruments. I believe what they're making now is all digital, but you can find completely passive, inductor-based EQs using only the highest-grade components (if you look at the prices they sold for originally that will give you som...

I originally got the DT770s, loved 'em, then upped my game with the DT880s. Highly recommended for long days with headphones...
