zorba wrote:Just curious if you purchase the micro can you record into pro-tools using the mic built into the macbook? Or can you use the 1/8 inch input to record into pro-tools?
Hi the USB dongle only has a stereo output.

Re: where to start troubleshooting - board/mixer problems, e

so, got my board wired and ready, finally. and there's two problems: one: two channels (2 and 9) don't give me any sound input. what's the best way to find where the problem lies? i've opened up the board and done a visual inspection - everything is soldered well, nothing's touching ground, no caps...

Thinking about it further... What I think this shows is that the classic big studio really doesn't have much to teach anymore Sorry but i disagree here, respectfully. 100% of the interns I have seen, even though they have 2-4 years of "pro" engineering school under their belt, cannot hook up a micr...

Re: Client Expectations (Turnaround Times)

It's not impatience. OK, maybe it is... impatience at getting my mortgage payment over to Countrywide on time. <snipped> For example, on my latest 'masterpiece', neither the ME or I caught a problem in the source WAV --- in this case Nuendo didn't properly render the file (a couple of drum hi...

Value to your work.

I hate the whole idea of attaching no value to your work. Instead of working in an environment where you have 0 value(and therefore are the toilet cleaning bitch since you can't be trusted to do anything else), make value for yourself and go to work in these environments as something better than a ...

http://www.record-producer.com/learn.cfm?a=3681 is this common? Yes. And the reporter... he never mentions once what details happenen during the 4 days he was there. Did he make good coffee?? A new intern talking at any time, is a bad thing. Here's why, from other perspectives: 1. The Artist does n...

Don't sell yourself short...

Good Art + Good Commerce = Good Karma. Yes, they knew the December quote was a 'sale' rate. What they got from me the first time was what you state. The player who couldn't deliver had a real gutcheck doing the session. What they didn't realize is the opportunity they had that first time. They've n...

Re: Saturation, enhancers, "warmifiers", etc.- you

This subject has intrigued me a bit lately. I've never really used too much of the aforementioned effects, but I know a lot of people do. And it seems like every time you turn around, somebody is wanting warmer tracks, more "analogue" sounds, or whatever. From what I know, the best tool for these t...

I dont post rates cause I figure there is enough stuff on my website for ppl to poke fun at already. I charge $15 per hour and in my area its hard for many bands to come up with that amount. But in the big picture of things, when ppl from other areas see such a low rate, I believe it affects my cre...
