Re: building up the motu 828...

Motu's firewire driver has a bug in it and if the driver doesn't take it will emit a sine wave (like 10k @1000db!) and blow your tweeters and possibly kill your pets. Got mine last ...

Re: ampeg V4 and V2 differences?

Well, I believe the only difference between the v2 is the v4 has 2 extra power tubes. I have a '71 v2 that I did I a very cool (and reversible) mod to. I run it with el-34's and it flat out rocks, this is a non master volume head and it sounds better than my marshall 25/50 and as good as my buddy's ...

Re: Audio Interface for Notebook running Win XP

I have been eyeing the firewire equipped motu, but Im running an athlon laptop and the layla is supposed to be flaky with AMD. The motu has killer sound quality, 8 xlr ins w/phantom power for all 8 of them looks pretty good but it is around $1200 on musicians friend so the layla is alot cheaper. I h...

Re: new sound card

I think that because terratec has always been pretty much just a consumer level/stereo gamer sound card the prices are low to get guys like you to try them out. This is their first jump into pro audio, if it goes well I would expect a price jump. They look intriguing enough to me and the specs aint ...

Re: recording into Soundforge -- what am i doing wrong?

check the "acid properties" in sounds forge and make sure your bpms are set the same as your acid project. for example you have an acid project that is set at 140 bpm and your record a new track in sound forge (which defaults to 120 bpm) it will sound all jacked up in acid. I havent mesed with acid ...

Re: roland studio package pro?

well I have the original roland studio pack and I ve been getting some decent stuff done, but, and its a big but, be ready for a MASSIVE learning curve, user friendly is not in rolands vocabulary. It literally took me about a year to get comfortable with the mixer and Logic. It makes you want to pul...
