I've owned a few B&O turntables and the only thing I didn't like was that the cartridge was special to them and was very expensive. I'd think that's what's wrong with it.

definitely the 160x, 160xt, 160a compressors. Cheap, everyone has them and they're decent on everything. Also, I think the fact that most home studio guys have them as well as multi-million dollar facilities. ...just like the 57.

Wouldn't the Chameleon Labs 7602 strips be considered cheap? A great eq and the throw in is a very decent mic pre for around $700. That's hard to beat.

I think I've replied to this before, but it's getting so long, I can't remember. As others have said before, I get everything used/cheap from pawn shops. Some of the highlights: 84 Martin D18V - mint w/ case (only 54 made that yr) $155 56 Les Paul Jr - $140 54 Fender Deluxe Tweed amp - $40 Roland 80...

Agree on the DeltaLab delays. Here's a few others:

dbx160xt compressors
any MXR blueface gear...flanger/doubler, digital delay, limiter, etc...
yamaha spx90
the higher end sony effects as well. DSP-V77 (isnt' that the number?)

I just got a Beyer M67 that someone threw in on some other mics I bought. Looks really interesting and very 60s. It's got an M-S switch at the bottom, sort of like an MD421. Let's hope that's what it sounds like. I haven't made it to the studio to plug it in to check it out yet, but I'd imagine it's...

well, i did get the new mics, but the capsules were already sold. So, until I can find a pair of ck1 capsules, I'm hanging onto my 012 pair.
